What are the Big 4? Discussions

Due to join the big 4 as an experience hire at Consultant level in defence/public sector practice. Worried about potential layoffs (especially since my utilisation could well be 0% for the year as joining 3 weeks before Christmas)

I’m currently working at a tiny firm (15 people) specializing in multi-family residential development on the west coast. If I wanted to move into a Big 4, which one would my background best fit with? Education wise, I hold an MBA from T30 and an PMP. Looking to move out of this firm in about 2 years but want to advocate for responsibilities that can help me transition into a Big 4 in the meantime.

I need to update my resume, but my current career path follows my masters and not so much my bachelor’s degree. I have experience for 2 years from a B4 that aligns with my masters. I don’t want to do any work in what my bachelor’s is as I really dont like it. Can I leave out my pervious experience aligning with my bachelor’s before the B4 experience in my resume when I apply to new jobs?

I’m a new Senior Associate Audit with 2 years of experience at Big 4 with no CPA and I’m trying to decide between two offers (HCOL).

 Offer 1: AVP-Internal Audit at Investment Bank for 140k base + bonus. 2 days a week in office.

 Offer 2: Experienced Analyst- Technical Accounting at a MM firm for 105k base + bonus. 100% remote work.

My career goals are Controller-> CFO. I need time to study for my CPA to achieve this goal. Any thoughts on which offer I should take? Thanks!

Getting good offers from b4 Global practices but b4 India practice not offering even closer. What should I do? The work in Indian practice is great but money is not good.

Hi All.. I’m working as a PMO consultant in a Big 4. It’s been like 5-6 months in this org but I’m looking for a change due to some financial crisis going in my family and now so i’m getting married by end of this year. Reason for a change is monetary growth. Based out of gurgaon. If someone can refer me for the same or similar domain, that would be really helpful. Overall work exp is 5.8 years and relevant (in Project Management/PMO) is of 3 years. I’m a CAPM and CSM certified.

Big 4 to MBB folks — what are the biggest differences you’ve experienced? In terms of ability to influence clients, level of analysis, work output/quality, hours/WLB, team member work ethic and intelligence? Did you level down (eg Manager to Associate) when switching? General tips for when someone is about to make the switch?

How is IBM Consulting? I accepted an offer with a big 4 for financial services in consulting at nyc but IBM recently contacted me for a offer for the same position and same service line in nyc. This for an internship and the big 4 is paying a little bit more and I don’t want to retract my acceptance but at the same time I heard ibm is a great piece on your resume so idk. The recuiter mentioned how she wish she could bump the pay but it’s out of her hands but she mentioned the full time pay will

Do companies like AWS, salesforce, Microsoft Azure, workday etc. offer consulting style services? If so how is working for them different than say a B4 team specializing in said technology?

So I am in MC and I am on cusp to manager, I have Base of 120 and will expected to get to 145 after promo plus bonus. I do mainly ops work and really thinking of switching career path and want to chase finance dreams. Got offer for M&A at big 4 practice as SC but the pay is stupidly low like, 100k and no bonus. Will take big pay hit and have to start from bottom again. Is this worth it for a shot to banking later on?

If i went from b4 M to f500 director, and wanted to move back to an mbb M role - is there significant career value in doing that? Or am i already in the exit, where adding mbb to to my resume wouldn’t be super impactful?

For reference i chose the industry role over the MBB role, so i think I’d have a good shot at getting it again. Current hours and pay are great (new parent), but I’ve felt FOMO ever since and all the typical industry frustrations are present in my current role.

Got let go last month, no clarity as to why but with all the layoffs going on it's a little scary... 6 YoE CPA and PM with big 4 and lots of diverse experience looking for work. Referrals really appreciated.
