Anyone in the boston area looking for a good WLB tax senior job? My last firm is hiring. No minimum billable hours needed. Client facing tax role. Great bonus structure (my last payout was 20% of my annual salary and I was there for less than one year). Very competitive salary. I won't have left if not for going to a big 4. Great team. I love my team when I worked there and they were like family to me. They encouraged me to be brave and pursue big 4 if that's better for me in the long run.

Any insights on KPMG vs. FTI Consulting?

KPMG: federal advisory, $90k base, $8k sign-on bonus, 20 days PTO

FTI: strategic communications, $70k base, $2.5k sign-on bonus, 16 days PTO

I know the KPMG offer is a lot better, and while I like the company, I do like FTI more. Both are for entry-level positions in DC, and both jobs are relatively similar. Would it be worth working at a Big 4 for a year or two and then trying to switch over?

Thoughts on small/medium firms? I floated my resume to a local ~40 person firm and one of the partners and a manager want to talk. I’ve never worked at any public accounting firm and have been sending resumes out to all the B4 and some regional firms as well. From what I can tell from their website the benefits are more or less in line with B4 and other firms.

Looking for advice. Based in the Bay Area and have 3.5 yr exp in IT Audit mostly SOX with a little SOC exp (ex big 4, couple of regionals) and have been applying to industry (mostly tech companies) since May. made it to final interviews only to find out hiring freezes were in effect or they went with a LCOL candidate.Would like to exit to a GRC role or a mixed role thats 50% sox, 50% varied projects, or a SOX role if the team culture is good. No luck getting in non sox work at current firm.

Hi all. Recently left big 4 for industry and I feel that this isn’t for me. Since joining, the company has had bad earnings and the the team has had so much turnover that nobody knows what they’re doing and are scrambling to figure it out. This has led to crazy hours for everyone and extremely stressful environment. When leaving big 4 I assumed I would have wlb but it’s been the complete opposite. I’m only a few months in, would it be a bad look to let them know that this isn’t for me?

I recently switched job and joined another B4 firm. As part of the hiring I was promised with a sign on bonus. Now I have received the sign on bonus twice, in back to back paychecks. I know I have to somehow return the second bonus to the firm. Does anyone know how taxes work on this? As both the bonuses were tax deducted prior to deposit, when I return amount do I need to pay back the withheld taxes to the firm as well? Has anyone left big 4 or other PA firms tax transaction service groups for industry (or know of anyone)? What was the role and salary bump, how are annual bonuses/raises in industry, what is a typical work week (hours) like? I don’t think I can take this always on just to stay afloat life much longer. For context I am considered a high performer, am near the top of the salary band at my level and have a great supporting network at Deloitte. It’s just not worth it to have zero personal life.
