An agency wants to come with an offer, SVP position and a 40% increase salary.

What would you do?

Whats the highest freelance hourly or day rate you've heard of someone getting? Any title or position.

Recently went through 6 rounds of interviews for a role I'm very qualified for. After the final interview with the VP, I was told that the job went to someone else because she "had a little more CPG experience."
After 6+ hours of interviews, and that being the only feedback, does the given reason feel accurate, or just being nice? How likely did I just botch something in the final interview and they're being non-specific?

Does every agency promise “good, cheap, and fast” these days?

Please tell me there are places that aren’t constantly sprinting with lean teams, expecting people to continuously uphold the highest standard. If so, where? If not, I’m planning my exit.

Is there any reason to be frank about your awful boss in an exit interview? Mine is egotistical, rude, an untalented CD, and has created a toxic work environment... but I don’t want to burn bridges...

Before Covid, I had already started working partially from home. This was after years of a long commute to sit my butt in a seat for many days where I didn’t have to be in the office. While working remote, my team and I were just as effective, if not more. Covid vindicated this way of working. I do think the future should be a hybrid model. I’ll be fine at my current role, but am fully ready to turn down future work if it isn’t remote or hybrid. The power is in OUR hands to create the new norm.

Is taking a Designer position at an agency usually a step back from a Junior Art Director? I feel like I’m starting all over in my career, when I originally thought it would help my chances of gaining more experience since it appeared more mid-level. Now, I’m stuck designing brochures and dealing with AD’s who seem to look down at Designers.

Just saw another of those LinkedIn posts from a CEO saying they hired a Gen Z with no experience because they were nice and polite and showed the potential to learn.....

.... As someone whose job is dependent on the ability of the brand manager to have the ability to convey ideas to and from the client..... and dependent on creatives to give clear and concise direction with well thought out concepts....

..... PLEASE for the love of god stop hiring people with no experience

Recently started at a new agency with a step up in position and nice salary jump. That said, I find the client / vertical incredibly boring. My agency only does healthcare so switching account likely wouldn’t help. How long would you stay for the sake of not looking bad?

What can anyone know about the media department at Weiden & Kennedy Portland? I was cold called as a good fit for a role there. We always hear about their creative work but like pretty much any agency we never hear about their media work. I’m in NYC so thoughts of the potential for upward mobility, the size of overall agency scene come to mind. Would it be hard to transition to a smaller market after almost 20 years in this cold, heartless ad scene?

Story Time. A couple weeks ago, a recruiter reached out about an opportunity that would be a large pay boost (hello client side) from my current role. I scheduled a call to discuss the role and it seemed everything went well and on that call. The recruiter said the next step would be his assistant reaching out to schedule the first interview. I think, “Great!” A few days later, the recruiter emailed me “Thanks for your interest but we’ve decided to go with an internal candidate.” *continued*

my agency lost the RFP pitch for my account, i interviewed out of courtesy for an open position on a diff account at same agency but saw external opportunities i would rather pursue. now my agency wants me to resign instead of getting severance because i declined their offer and my old account has terminated. Has anyone else been in this position? Did you try and ask for severance?

Opinions/ preferences on using a producer versus hiring doing the producers job in house?

With so many companies hiring staff in remote locations, how does that impact a recruits ability to negotiate salary that reflect cost to live where they live? Let’s say the recruit lives in a big city with a higher average salary than the company in a smaller more rural area. Is the company obliged to offer a rate higher than they would for a local employer? And if they don’t take higher cost to live in negotiations, why would someone take they offer?

Just accepted an offer for a Strategy Director role at another agency, fully leapfrogging the Associate Director level, and I’m worried I’m not prepared. Any advice? Is there like…a book I can read?

I’m trying to stay positive but I am just so burnt out right now. I thought working at an agency in planning was going to be a dream role closer to strategy, but I’m less and less motivated every day because of the hours and the lack of opportunity outside of in the weeds, niche tasks. Has anyone else fallen out of love with media planning, and if so where did you go?

Is it just me or is it extremely rude when recruiters reach out to you, know your current job title, then proceed to interview you only to come back and say “we’ve decided to go with a more Sr. Creative.” After A. You were told this was for a mid level position, and B. You were told they were going to set up some calls with creative directors. Which they never did?

My friend is an incredible ACD (art) and is pretty miserable/stuck at his current gig. He’s got a great book, experience, and super down to earth with a a great attitude. Anyone hiring??

Agencies need to stop promoting their creative placement schemes, internships, and mentorship schemes for under-represented groups and young people as if that’s enough. It isn’t. Junior creatives are over-mentored and have attended countless Zoom portfolio crits, talks and more over the last year. They are eager to work yet nobody is hiring juniors.

Tbh, all these schemes just get people’s hopes up and kill them when they still can’t get a full time junior gig. Just give them jobs.

I’m considering leaving my current position after 1.5 years, and left my two previous roles after roughly the same amount of time (one was slightly longer). The primary reason for leaving is the type of work/clients (which have always changed after I’ve been hired, nothing I could have known in advance). Does this seem like a red flag for potential employers? Should I just stick it out for another year here, despite the work being painfully boring/dull?

Advice Pls: I’ve been at my current agency for 2 years and I’m in a rare situation, where all of my clients are great, in addition to the internal teams I work with. I interviewed for a more senior role at another agency, that would be my ideal next step in my career. The pay is more (nothing crazy/on par with other agencies). I’m hesitant to leave now given my current situation /don’t want to start something new in the summer, but I know there are no promo opportunities. Should I stay or go?

Applying to a new position with my partner. All the interviews have been together. For the money talk, should we do that together or approach it solo. Im confident in my negotiating skills and don’t want them to mess it up, but i don’t necessarily have a reason to think they will.
