Do you recommend reaching out and applying on your own if an outside recruiter told you about the opportunity but hasn’t gotten back to you in 2 weeks?

Because the agency is now posting on their social that they’re hiring and I don’t want to miss an opportunity, but it’s also my first time working with a recruiter and don’t know how much they would help or make a difference?

Any quick fixes on burnouts? Have been working at least 200% since September last year. I have multiple big deadlines all due today, and I have been writing slides while crying for the last 2 hours – it’s just slow and painful. Need to pull myself together and just do the work because well, I need the job, and in this economy no one else is hiring.

What are your work days like in a media agency as an analyst? How many hours do you normally work? I already have such poor work life balance and I’m nervous I’m going into another position with the same issues.

She listened and offered advice, which I appreciated. Last night we got into an argument (not about work) and in the heat of the moment, she yelled at me that my stupidity is why I’m not getting a promotion. It cut me deep, I’m still hurt. How do I get over this?

What salary would you ask for:
Currently making 120k as a senior at a big shop.
Moving to ACD role in small shop.
Six years of experience + portfolio school.

Where is my reasonable range?

What percentage of a client's fee would you say should be salary? Or better question since it should be 100% lol - what is the average/expectation?
For example - if the client is paying 200K for my position at 100% dedicated FTE, what would you expect my salary to be?

Looking for info on using independent recruiters. Had one reach out to me to place me for a role. I’ve always went directly to the agency or internal recruiters. Is there an advantage to using one? Why not contact the agency directly? Do you settle for lower salary through one due to the agency needing to pay them?

Part-time grad school and agency life... doable or crazy? I average 50 hour weeks but would have a convo with my manager about being unavailable a few evenings a week and on weekends. I just learned that my company is hiring a new person in my team for a role that is right above mine. This is a new role that was not available when I first applied and was recently created. This was a way to give promotions to existing CESs as it was just CES and then account managers and jumping from CES to AM would be a huge leap.

Just got told I cant move forward in a recruiting process because the parent company has a policy that only lets you talk to 1 agency at a time. The sister agency recruiter didn't give me an email to communicate with and did not bring this up, they cold called me at 9pm to do the screener right there on the spot. When a recruiter asks you for salary expectations and you deflect by asking about the allotment range for the role.. they still give you a lowball answer - right?

Currently an AM intern with a fast-approaching end date to my internship. The agency I’m at has offered me a role in SEO as they don’t have any open AM positions to fill.

I don’t have any other job leads right now, so I’m inclined to take the SEO role, even though my interests are more AM or even PM. I know little more than the fundamentals for SEO.

Will taking the SEO job for now pigeon-hole me into those types of roles? Or can I do SEO for the time being and keep looking for AM jobs?

I’m curious to know... How some agencies claim to be an “equal opportunity employer”, when they don’t even post their openings and hire people they already know? I’d love to work for some specific agencies in New York, I check their jobs page, I respectfully reach out to the hiring team to express my interest and nothing happens... It’s really frustrating.
