I keep hearing about how everyone is hiring so many people, but where are all the jobs for sr art directors in New York??

At my current agency I just got screwed out of a huge, nationally recognized tv campaign. Also, they’re not “even considering” evaluating me for a promotion, even though I’ve met all the criteria. I’ve put myself out there and had multiple offers for a higher role, more money. The client isn’t as exciting but thinking about making the jump, just a little scared. What should I do?

I got a job at my dream agency but for the wrong role. I ideally want to be in creative I.e an art director but I somehow ended up in digital ads. How would I go about positioning myself to get into creative given that I’m already working on my portfolio?

Instead of having an interview today, the senior strategists took the 30 minutes to explain to me why I should stay in my current role and will pick somebody with more experience for a junior strategists role. She contributes to how hard it is for juniors to break into strategy.

Ive taken on a new role in integrated production. I'm now responsible for producing all different types of work - some of which I have little experience with. I'm struggling to gather common acceptable budgets for common programs across experiential, film, influencers, etc. Partners never want to give a rate card but it's hard for me to give teams a real expectation for what's possible. Has anyone found (or built) an accurate resource to reference when it comes to production costs! Halp! Thanks

Is it bad to mention that you are looking to move into a role to get promoted earlier than a year when you join a new company in an interview? I am few months away from being a GAS or associate account director based on yoe.

How can I impress the senior strategist I am about to soon interview with for a junior strategy role? The role is opened cause the account is in a place to train and mentor a junior. I have 3 months of strategy experience from my internship, but going up against people that have 1 year of strategy experience and scarred they would want them more since they have the experience and don’t have to train them that much.

Strategy should be the springboard for creative, not a tether.

Strategy should play a supporting role for creative, not dictate it.

The shops putting out the best work have this dynamic right. Most agencies do not.

Working with a recruiter from Edelman about a series of interviews for their Sr. Resource Manager position for the western region, mainly supporting their Seattle office/resources. Any advice or tips from anyone at Edelman that can shed light on their culture, the workflow of resources. Are people getting burned out over there? Any insights about the firm are greatly appreciated.

I fought for and landed added scope with a client to fund a temp position. My company never filled it and I did the job on top of my regular responsibilities. Where does that money go? Is it back to the client (I doubt it)? Is it weird if I ask for a cut of it?

Freelancing at an agency and partnered with a full time creative who’s not doing so well. Their last partner left them and took all the good projects they were on, their team doesn’t respect them, doesn’t let them attend client meetings, etc. They’re currently sinking our projects as well. As a freelancer, do I just have to accept this position I’m in? It’s reflecting poorly on me as well. Would like to distance myself or switch it up… but… ya know… I’m a freelancer.

Any one else having a really hard time communicating with recruiters during the interview process lately? I’m getting ghosted, ignored and/or given misinformation about timelines and next steps. I’ve been on the hiring manager side and know that things change and are equally frustrating but just shocked at how I’m being treated as a candidate for roles I’m being strongly considered for.

I got contacted by a recruiter about a role at an agency. It’s a lateral title move (maybe a salary bump) and I’m not unhappy at my job, but I generally have a rule of taking every call.

I’m 4 interviews in - at the assignment / offer stage and I’m increasingly uneasy. Culture feels a little toxic, the work isn’t super exciting, lots of turnover etc.

Thinking I should pull out as to no waste time. Any reason not to that I’m missing (aside from bridge burning?)

To the hiring manager asking me to complete a written assignment that includes case studies of my best work; my point of view on what makes a successful campaign; examples of brands that are getting it right and why; examples of brands that are getting it wrong and what I’d change; plus, a proposed timeline, staffing plan, budget breakdown, and strategy outline for a fictitious client: Who hurt you?

How do I quit a job after 3 months delicately/professionally? Never been in this situation before, I started a new agency job in March and have pretty much been miserable since. While my boss senses that I am not be too happy in the role, we’ve never been able to openly discuss it in depth. Anyway, I just got offered a new role that seems like a better fit. When I give my notice, should I refuse to tell my current boss where I’m going out of fear of retaliation?

Left an in house UX job a few months ago after nearly five years and see the ‘updated’ requisition for backfill was turned into a junior role (used to be Sr. Manager). Why don’t companies see the value of design leadership?! It totally reinforced that going back agency side was the right move. I’m baffled so many folks view in house as this amazing sanctuary, I had the opposite experience.

Converting on a freelance-to-perm role, and the agency offered $10k less than my low range. I like the people but don’t love the client, and I’ve got enough cushion for a month or two. Do I:

a) feel grateful for a full-time offer during an uncertain time, and just accept?

b) counter with an argument about my existing value to the account, knowing that they probably won’t come up the full $10k?

c) stand firm on my range and tell them I’m prepared to walk if it doesn’t work for them?

What’s the average relocation fee an agency might pay (or at least a decent relocation fee)? I’m planning to move from the west coast to the east coast, and would love advice. Also, it’s for a senior level role (not c-level or anything).

Anybody have any tips on how to go about the relocation conversation? I’m looking to move out of the city with our main office to a city with a much smaller office. With post-covid office culture I can’t imagine it’s that big of an ask. That said, I’m in a junior role and have been with the company for less than a year so I don’t know if this is a question I should really even ask at this time.

I have a 2nd round of interview with a big tech company next week. Background: I applied a different position a year ago and got rejected in the 1st round. 1 year later, the same department reached me out and offered me an interview opportunity for a different position.
