I applied to a position about a month ago & the recruiter says that they’re going to a diff direction at that time and will reach out to me once another same position opens up again. However, I saw the same job posting just now. Does that mean I’m out of the recruiter’s vicinity? Should I even bother reaching out?

As an ACD for a Chicago agency, how much should I be making? Keeping in mind that I've been hired in a permanently remote role and live in Orlando (for now). If it matters, it's a biopharma agency of about 250 employees.

While submitting a salary counter on a role I was offered, I listed valid points on why I deserved a higher sum for the responsibilities. Recruiter brought up my diversity being a key negotiator and awkwardly asked me “what are you” since the person making financial decisions will “want to know.” I am a “racially ambiguous” POC and while I answered in order to save face, this made me extremely uncomfortable. I accepted the job but can’t shake how inappropriate and dehumanizing this felt.

Is it worth it to hire a job coach/resume writer? I’m struggling to put my actual role into words (especially for resume purposes).

I’ve been interviewing for a role at a company that I really want to work with, and yesterday I got an email from the recruiter wanting to know if I was available for a quick 15 minute call today. Do recruiters call people to reject them? My friends say it’s a good sign, and I am used to just getting the “thanks but no thanks” *email* when I don’t get a job I interviewed for, but I’m seriously just freaking out right now. Am I being ridiculous?

Account ppl - hello. My role has recently become very project management and account focused. This has always been someone else's job. My role just requires many hats. I keep making small faux pas like emailing clients late (once) without considering what this looks like. There are better ways to learn than the hard way.

Can you suggest any resources, books, courses, films etc that I can read up on. How to be a professional account handler type thing.

Should you agree to interview for a temporary position when you would only accept full-time?

If I know I want to be a copywriter, would it look bad to hiring managers for me to take a general marketing job in the meantime? But continue to be on the hunt for a jr copy role? Titles are cool, but there’s a point in time where money becomes cooler.

Started my career after graduating in May & just landed a mid-level pm role, $10k salary increase.

I’ve been rejected countless times now. But it surely hits different when you make it through to the final rounds of interviews and when they make you do a project in the process, too. I can’t believe how much time went wasted with yet another recruiter to tell me they’re hiring someone with more experience than me. I’m at my absolute wits end after job hunting for around 6 months now. Is there anyone out there who still believes in hiring *true junior* talent with not much experience?

What are some good, performance review goals to set that show that someone at a Media Planner level is ready to move into a Supervisor role? I recently started a new job that is a lateral move; My new role is a great, but I want to prove that I can be ready for the next level next year since I’ve already been a planner for over 1.5 years

Assuming you’ve already hit up the recruiter, who else would it benefit me to message on LinkedIn?

How do I jump to media/entertainment? ie Viacom, Warner/HBO, CNN. I don’t care if I’m producing promos, post-producing, doing Jr Biz Affairs & clearances. I’m not trying to run global operations. Do I keep applying into that online abyss? Are there recruiters here? Someone want a referral fee? I’m Sr level agency producer, there must be something I can do besides Exec Assistant??

Common wisdom is to always take a call with a recruiter if they reach out, but what if you’re less than three months into a new position and not actively looking? Even if a top agency tapped you (Droga5, The Martin Agency, etc.), feels like leading them on/a waste of everyone’s time.

Is HUGE hiring AD’s right now? If so, I’d love to talk. Also goes for other design heavy agencies, let me know!

I have a 2 hour interview with an agency tomorrow for a freelance role. This is my first time speaking with them, a recruiter set me up with them last week and they liked me enough to want to meet me (!!) I’m meeting the members of the team individually which is why it’s so long, but do you think a 2 hour interview right off the bat is a good sign? Any tips for not burning out over the course of 2 hours?
