What’s the most spectacular way to get fired?

I’m being laid off and my agency is trying to find a place for me within our holding company. I haven’t received any departure paperwork or anything regarding severance yet. Is this normal? Are they trying to find a place for me within our holding company to avoid paying out severance? I have a job offer outside the holding group that I want to take but if I can wait it out another week until departure conversations (severance is offered), should I? I’m not the only one at my shop being laid ifd

CCO’s, ECD’s posting the amount of One Show shortlists they got should post the amount of people that got laid off, furloughed or had their salary reduced next to it.

my agency lost the RFP pitch for my account, i interviewed out of courtesy for an open position on a diff account at same agency but saw external opportunities i would rather pursue. now my agency wants me to resign instead of getting severance because i declined their offer and my old account has terminated. Has anyone else been in this position? Did you try and ask for severance?

An agency I contacted a year ago, after I was laid off in the pandemic, finally gets in touch with a team opening on a very tough account. If I waited around that long for them I’d have defaulted on my mortgage, lost my work visa and been kicked out of the country by now. I’ve been freelancing on way more interesting stuff but decide to do the interview and find out more. The first question the CCO asks me and my partner, “So why do you want this job?” 🙄

Is it awkward/unwelcome to ask interviewers about recent layoffs? Especially if you’ve heard from a trusted source?

1. if it really was sexual harassment given I’m a fairly ‘open’ person myself as a gay man

I got fired from an agency while I was in the middle of having a mental health crisis due to major upheaval in my personal life. I acted pretty crazy, but nothing illegal, dishonest, harassing, sexual/sexist/racist or even anything that amounted to a fireable offense. I was happy just to move on, but now I'm learning that my former employers are bad mouthing me all over town. Another agency even told a recruiter they'd heard "bad stories" about me. I feel unemployable. Should I see a lawyer?

One of our tech clients has an in house opening for exact same role as mine. Should i apply for it? Will they inform my management and get me fired? I like the client but scared of agency finding out

Layoffs yesterday 😭 We had a brutal round of layoffs before break too and we all thought we were safe for a while. I still have my job but the survivor’s guilt is real.

I know agencies across the board did some layoffs right before the holidays, but when do we think hiring will pick up again? Getting to a point where I feel like I need to start thinking about a change.

What do you recommend someone who is experiencing harassment from an employee who no longer works at the company? This person got laid off from the company and is not taking it well.

Leaders - is there any reason you’d keep an employee who’s a known bully? Trying to figure out why my agency hasn’t fired the one rotten apple. She’s not even good at her job. None of us can understand it.

Ogilvy leadership talk alot about transparency. I would love them to put their words into action. Lauren should come out and confirm that she did not get a bonus (the sad truth of the matter is that despite layoffs, revenue and margin declines, it would not surprise me if she did). Sad state of affairs. Happy to stand corrected.

My agency just promoted two white women to be CCOs. Yes, after all the diversity talk, two white women. They’ve pushed out, fired, or did a poor job of retaining POC since I’ve been here, but are doing a great job with the white higher up promotions.
