I moved in with my SO when covid started! We have challenges with our separate careers. She is a teacher and constantly complains about being on zoom for 4hrs per day with kids, and how she is bored from when she gets off at 4 and I get off at 6. I don’t even know what to say to her as everything I’m doing is much more difficult at work. Outside of work, she isn’t the type of person to cook (and does not understand she can eat from the kitchen and not have to order things) - meaning...

I see tons of posts on here about how travel will not got back to normal and I completely disagree. Leading workshops in person with a white board, easily answering questions from different departments with little coordination (since your onsite don’t always need to plan a meeting), observing workflows in person to understand current state can not and is not getting replaced by zoom. I would say the effective rate is at 80/90% but the cost of travel is well worth the extra 10-20%.

What is a great way to make mentors during r WFH period? I’m a new college hire and would like to network and form mentorships in the age of zoom/webex

I recently attended an Indian (zoom) wedding wherein the bride’s mother used intelligent before beautiful and kind to describe the bride. First time ever did I hear such a thing. Can’t wait for the day when this becomes the business-as-usual.

Anyone have a method or process for checking in on daily deliverables with team members? I feel like a micromanager when I ping people on slack throughout the day to ask for status updates. Would a reoccurring calendar invite or reminder be better to just have people send me a status update? Or is there a Slack bot y'all like that does that?

What is the acceptable time frame to follow up with someone who is tardy for a zoom call? What’s the allowed grace period? Five minutes? Ten minutes?

My personal laptop is old and the camera is nowhere near the quality of my work laptop. Is it crazy to use my work laptop?

Side note - the interview is via Microsoft Teams, which we use in my office for internal communications. I’m comfortable with the using the platform, but have no idea how meeting info is stored.

Anyone know if companies are doing virtual holiday parties and if so, what are they doing? I’m tasked with planning mine, but if I have to sit on another awkward zoom happy hour I might just explode. Open to suggestions or ideas. My team is spread out internationally, so even sending a stupid “swag” gift is next to impossible.

Can we automatically fire people who say "hi" on Slack and never respond? Its not chat. Slack doesn't interupt your screen if you are presenting. Get with the times, it's 2020. Just tell me what you want!

Welp. Had an interview scheduled for this morning for 30 mins. I join the webex & nothing. I email the recruiter after 15 mins and get a response saying the interviewer had something come up and would like to reschedule. Is it dramatic of me to be bothered by the fact they didn’t even apologize? Meanwhile, I have another interview for a different company Monday & the recruiter reached out today asking if I had any questions or do a zoom test run.

There was a 'Virtual Happy Hour' arranged by the #HR today, where the Partner was to talk to us; the meeting was for 45 minutes, and the partner joined 15 minutes late.
When he joined, he asked - 'How are you all?' No one replied apart from the #HR, then he individually asked a few people how are they.
Everyone answered : 'Working and staying home' *20 times

That's the state of #EmployeeEngagement in EY.
I am not sure, if that is the case for other teams as well.

The campaign I concepted, wrote a key line that helped sell the idea, drafted the script, art directed the shoot over zoom and supervised the post production for finally went live tonight. It’s not a name brand client and only a small number of people will see it and it’ll never win any awards, but I’m still super proud of it.

Question: I am in California and we use Google calendar and my client, based in Phoenix, uses Microsoft Teams. All their recurring meetings (initiated by them) are still showing on my calendar at the same time instead of moving it forward by an hour. Did anyone has this problem?

My firm normally has annual review meetings in August and pay raises take effect on October 1st. On a call held in early September they said the meetings would actually take place at the end of September. Next, there was a zoom call last week in which management did not mention reviews at all until someone asked when they will be, and they said “soon”. Thoughts?

I tutor ESL after school and recently switched over to Zoom. Students are stating that they are unable to annotate. I’ve read that this is common for Chromebook users. Does anyone know of a way to bypass this and/or any video/picture tutorials? Otherwise, it looks like we’ll just have to add an additional open tab with a google share doc. Many thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.
