I want to make my money work for me and investing in index funds seems to be a good first step. Anyone have any good books/research websites to recommend for investing in index funds and/or other financial instruments? Would also appreciate advice anyone has for a first time investor who is terrified of losing money to the market.

What do you think is a good % of your income to save? I hear stories of people not contributing to a 401k, not saving or investing, and just spending it all. Curious what the general consensus on this is

Hi fishes, Just curious to know what percentage of your income do you generally save? I know this would largely vary based on whether a person stays with his parents, or stays elsewhere, single/ married, liabilities, etc. In my case, I stay with my parents and unmarried. How much should ideally be my saving vs my income?

We have worked hard and invested into our respective professions!! i find it insulting what is being offered as far as compensation!!!

Hey all, Happy Monday. Curious for feedback on how you've seen severance offers approached.

My prior companies have always been what I thought of as average: min of 2 weeks plus extra week for every year for ICs, min of 4 weeks plus extra week for every year for managers, etc. for Directors & beyond.

Current co refuses to offer more than 1-2 weeks, max. I had to go to bat recently for a 3 year + manager level only to get 3 weeks and my leadership team is NOT happy with me.

Thoughts?

The total CTC is
Fixed 29lpa
Variable 2.9lpa
Stocks $24k vested over 3yr
Overall yearly is coming around 38LPA

In GS my current fixed is only 13LPA but got bonus of 3lk last yr on a prorated basis as i joined only last yr may.

Not sure if i can ask GS to match my offer from PayPal and im hesitant to switch. ( Note as per my recent conversations with my managers I'm up for promotion in dec)
