I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?

As a company we are looking at going digital with our employee personnel and medical files etc. What are some of the ways you have done that? Any advice/recommended process?
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
Are you folks happy with your decision to make a career in sales? I’m young working in tech sales, but also have my bachelors in psychology, and could see my self happily going for my masters maybe even PHD and being a counselor.
Now that networking events are virtual and limited opportunity for face to face meetings - how are new leads being generated besides website traffic. How do you "network" at virtual meetings and presentations?
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a one-stop-shop learning management system, payroll and benefits platform and applicant tracking system? If not, can anyone propose two cost-efficient platforms that integrate well with one another? Company size: 250-500 employees
PHR or SHRM? I am looking to get more certifications related to HR vs recruiting, but I am unsure on which one is "better" or will help me grow into more of a strategic HR role. Help!!!
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
I’m looking for a screening tool that will assess a candidate’s proficiency with MS-Teams. Would anyone know if there is such a thing that exists?
Should I expect a promotion to essentially be in writing? This entire "promotion" seems to be theoretic over the last 6 months. I was about to quit yesterday and now the position I didn't think I was going to get is starting to come around;timing couldn't be crazier. Should I give them an ultimatum? I just received an insane offer but I want to stay.
For those in b2b sales how are your orders placed most? Online, customer service or sales reps?
I am a Canadian. I have a wealth of experience in Education and Educational Leadership (Doctoral Level). I am looking for a position in Southern California. I would require sponsorship. Leads? Ideas? Thoughts??
Hey guys! Our teammate is going through a pretty tough time, I wasn’t sure if this would be appropriate to post, but seeing as though this is a sales group, and my man Braxton is a sales beast... I thought I could try posting and apologize later. If you can give please do, if you can share please, if you can pray please, please do. We’re so close to getting his expenses covered, and after all he’s done to show up to our team.. I’m trying to show up to him in my fullest capacity. Thank you!!
I would like to help those wanting to shift careers in HR, minorities, or women going back to the workforce, learn workday coding and ultimately help them get a job in the space. Is there any interest?
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Guidehouse manager salary?
Looking for advice! I’m a SA (almost 1 yr in role) was an A for 2 yrs. Client is a tech company who I enjoy working with but I am hitting a wall in my role due to technical skills. The next step would be to go deep in the technical learning, which I don’t think is what I want to do. The alternative path for my team is project management, which I don’t want either. I’m interested in product management (would likely start with Associate Product Manager role) for a different tech company (Cont)
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
So all you consultants that gave up your apartments because you were 100% travel what are you doing now?
If you message the hiring manager directly about a Role, what do you say? Recently did this and the HM basically responded saying the recruiting team will reach out to all applicants.
I am a five year experienced professional I do have an experience into HR generalist activities such as onboarding, exits, employees engagement, little on HRBP, offshore HR services, I am not sure how to go about my career from here I am not getting any new good opportunities. Should I get some certification or change my career. I feel on the same experience levels others are more skilled, even though I have good interpersonal skills but I could never get an opportunity to showcase in the role.
I completed my final round last week, and the recruiter told me I should hear back at the end of the week; he then asked me how my interviews are going Should I be ambiguous in my reply, or tell him i won’t hear back for 1-2 weeks from the others?
Anyone have experience with a nanny share in the NOVA area? We’re in Alexandria near old town and are trying to figure out cost and lessons learned. Did you use a website like Care .com or an agency? What was your monthly cost per child? Would you suggest this or is it not worth the hassle? And help would be very much appreciated!
Anyone go from PwC Cyber to Accenture Cyber? Love to hear any thoughts on culture diff etc. Thanks!
I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
Hey Fish! I have an acquaintance from Penn who is looking for some guidance about applying to consulting firms. She is specifically looking to get connected to folks from Alvarez and Marsal. Anyone willing to hop a on a call?
I am beyond stuck in my first 1.5 years of my career. I was over promised opportunities at my first gig and then Covid hit. Leading me to have no portfolio worthy pieces from this 💩 agency with nothing great in sight. (place hasn’t won a pitch in my entire time here + lost clients) I’m juggling re-vamping my site and a side project to hopefully make my book more robust. With no kind of leadership or mentor, I’m just figuring out how to dig myself out of this hole. Any advice for this chump?
I’ve had to scrounge for work all year and now I finally have work but I’m working 15+ hour days. Im really happy I have work but I’m completely missing summer which I need for my mental health. Help.
Well, I was just laid off, and I guess I need to figure out the unemployment process. How does it work if the firm continues to give me paychecks for a bit instead of giving a lump sum amount?
How client facing of a role is ZS Associates for SIP and Decision Analytics respectively? Is it comparable to your big 4 / LEK OW ATK type role in terms of client facing, direct strategy work or are there stark differences between ZS and the other firms in terms of quality of experience?
I know "parent" holidays e.g., father's day can bring up trauma/bad memories for some queer/non-binary folks, myself included, so just wanted to share a quick message to celebrate everyone's chosen families (loved ones who aren't necessarily biologically related to you)! ❤️ Those who fully support you and your identity deserve to be your family 😊 And also wanted to post a link to Chosen Family by Rina Sawayama because this song always makes my heart feel full https://youtu.be/8vHuo-9cha0
Please let me know if I’m missing anything. When it comes to investing vs. paying off debt, ppl say paying off debt makes you sleep better at night. But if I get fired tomorrow, I would not have $ for my monthly bills if I have been focusing on paying off debt. It’s not like i can reborrow student loans? So.. Wouldn’t I sleep better if I invest, because at least I will have more liquidity and can dip into my investment if I get fired?
I had my first baby and now work 75%. I'm trying to decide whether to go back full time. I'm happier now, but my husband's in school for 3 more years, and my paycheck doesn't cover our bills. Wwyd?
