Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

How do I sell a product which is not required in the market right now but would be really great in the future (software). Having lot of troubles getting meetings

Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?

I already have the SHRM-SCP. . would it be a value add to go for the SPHR as well?

Hi, I’m currently working as a recruiter in the light industrial and I’m really sick of the non stop calls, interviews and just the nature of this profile. Earlier I was contemplating moving to another field in recruitment but now I’m considering switching to another profile in HR where I can do backend processes/ payroll/ hr systems, cz I want to leave the calls and interviews and sourcing.. please suggest profiles I could take a dig in and explore? I’ve been in my current position (Bookkeeper) for 4 years now. I’m highly interested in taking the PHR, and I’m wondering if I would qualify for the 4 year HR professional job requirement to be eligible to test for the certificate. I work for a small business, therefore I do all the on boarding paperwork/payroll. Any advice is appreciated.

Hello everyone! How do you manage holiday pay when the holiday is on a Saturday/ Sunday. For example, if I have someone working on Christmas (Sunday), they should be paid 1.5 but what if they work on Monday as well?I know this might sound silly to some people but I’m covering for payroll for the holidays and I don’t want to mess up!

If I wanna leave the firm in December.. when do I have to tell to my audit teams? I have to be utilized well enough to get my 30 month experience till december.

Go for a perm position for a large manufacturing company recruiting assemblers and Machinsts in aerospace. 70k

Or

Temporary contract with the government recruiting for various low skilled work with higher than average wages. Min 82k with possibility of extension

Anyone here works full time at public accounting and has a part time job to make some side money? I have been thinking to get a real estate license and work as an agent on the weekends/ free time. Is that possible time wise? Thought housing market is hot now and would be a good time to enter.

Does PHR certification help in India, as this is globally recognised how much valuable is this currently in indian job market.

Been a coach at the collegiate level for 6 years. Make a $65k salary. Want to leave coaching and break into sales/marketing/recruiting/consulting. I have ample leadership and recruiting experience with a strong work ethic.

Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.

I am a new associate (1 month in mid-tier firm) and I struggle to get work to fill up the whole day. In honest time, i get about 3-5 billable hours a day. Am I going to get in trouble or fired over this?? I am putting my best efforts when I do get work and I ask for work sometimes. At this point I feel like I am being annoying too…

On some days I feel like I haven’t been productive all day. Something at home needs my attention or I feel distracted by absolutely anything and not a lot gets done

Another foot-in-my-mouth situation where what I said was misinterpreted but still shouldn’t have said in the first place. My lack of filter, especially after a few drinks, is constantly getting me in trouble. How many of you are struggling with not having your mouth lead your brain?

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

Hi all! My past role was a pretty toxic environment - extremely unrealistic & ever-changing expectations & condescending behavior & an overall mean & anxiety riddled atmosphere. Any advice on what to ask future companies when interviewing to really dig & uncover any red flags? Getting real feedback & a true sense of things can be difficult bc typically you get back what they want you want to hear. Probing questions that might allow to read btwn the lines & uncover negative atmosphere? Thanks!

What do you all normally do in your downtime at work? I used to be in a high stress, high tempo office but moved to a better paying role with much less responsibility. I’m still adjusting to have all this free time on my hands and need something to keep me busy throughout the day.
