1) Somewhat common. More people take on executive roles in industry. Not sure if it’s a function of those people specifically looking for PE or industry. I get contacted by mega funds occasionally. After all, 60-70% of our project is for PE portfolio companies. 2) Yes. I know someone who took 4 weeks for that. I’m not sure if it’s max or the firm offers more.
Even better, thanks, A1!
Thanks, D1. That’s very helpful. I appreciate your commentary!
Paternity (and maternity) leave is way below market. Some of our competitors and tech companies offer 16-20 weeks full pay. We still have a lot of work do to in terms of policy.
All I am saying change is not happening fast enough and calling it “bonding time” for men is just plane insulting. Call it parental leave. Give people what they deserve and don’t make them feel bad for having kids and wanting to spend time with their newborn baby. It’s also not just new industry companies that offer better parental leave - my husband works at NBC and they offer 4-months full pay parental leave as do other media companies. This was a recent competitive response to professional services and tech/media companies. These unequal policies are also discriminatory to LGBTQ employees.
