Benefit is you can actually be an expert in something (rather than just claiming you’re an expert).
Every project I’ve been on at Accenture has been at least a year. I’m not a huge fan. Bad clients are just bad for longer. You get bored at good clients. I can’t really think of a way that they’re better other than the fact that your utilization will be consistent and planning vacations long term is easier.

Benefits are that you can build a routine for a longer time period and possibly the fact that you will become an SME, depending on the project.
I have worked on many greenfield projects lasting just several months until delivery, often with next phases a few months after. These were always fun and prestigious but I got tired of the switchtasking between other projects when an emergency maintenance came up. Just offboard a long-term project after two years and have built good connections at the client and been enjoying the project. Good thing is that the project is more mature and there’s a full team still active at the client and the project is in good hands.
