Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

Seems like Samsung is universally disliked by agency ppl.
That seems to be the consensus. Wondering if working on that account with the expectation that client is “difficult” helps 🤔. I worked for an awful telecom account and I saw many people come in with high hopes and expectations to change things, only to be met with a brick wall and leave at the year mark. Being dead inside after working on that account for several years may be a good thing 🤣
No one has ever loved working on Samsung. Ever. But in exchange for your soul and way more work hours that is normal, you might get a chance to make some big budget Interesting commercials.
You work insane hours to make what exactly Samsung wants: 0% of creative ideas, just another cringe stuff noone cares of. Also Samsung HQ clients have a huge layers of reporting system. At least 3. I’m speaking from my experience…

Anything Samsung or Cheil is terrible. Full stop.
Can’t speak for McKinney’s piece of the business, but I work on the Samsung media account — they’re a very tough client, but they’re also aware of their reputation and are (at least allegedly) making steps to rectify that.
We had a joint town hall with their CMO last week where she basically said their philosophy is to demand for 100% in the hopes of a 90% delivery — their timelines and benchmarks are almost always unrealistic and they are very light on affirmation or positive feedback, but if you’ve got thick skin and a strong work ethic I’ve personally found it to be a very enjoyable and rewarding account to work on. If nothing else, I’m learning a lot! Make sure you’re compensated well for it though because they’re gonna work you hard.

Sounds like an awful job. You can make an ok salary without all that bullshit.
Doesn't Ogilvy and RGA have Samsung?
We also have a part of the Samsung business
In addition to the other comments about Samsung as a client, my experience is that they didn’t brief well with sufficient information (admittedly could be an internal problem), and they seem to move the goalposts at every review.
They've managed to make some fun creative stuff for Samsung in the Amsterdam office, understood that it's definitely a tough process like everyone here is describing though

WK Amsterdam seems to be the only one to get anything decent out of them consistently, don’t want to imagine what it takes
Have to admit I have a fond place in my heart for Samsung. Made some mad freelance money a few years ago thanks to their absolutely insane demands on the agency I was freelance at.
My job started well at first. I directed a couple of commercials that put Cheil USA on the map, had crazy hours, and had to wear more than one hat to get things done. They give titles to unqualified people just because the salaries are low. Unempathic CEO who doesn’t listen to his team
Depends which market you’re talking about.

Anything Samsung sucks. But it’s lucrative I have to admit. It’s like blood money
Don’t do it. They aren’t a good company. They don’t value humans. They let go creative to dedicated the entire career to that company in a minute decision. I am coming to anyone who is a good advertiser or a good person to not put their time and effort at McKinney. Everyone that leaves or is laid off bc they “didn’t work hard enough” is overworked and underappreciated at the end of every project unless you are a white male from North Carolina.
Samsung still uses agencies bc of the money, and churn and burn, and any agency who works for them does it super cheap. That should be an answer.
