My wife really struggled with it while she was pregnant. She went off her meds for all of it, which really didn't seem medically necessary, but having miscarried twice before, I understood why she did and wasn't going to argue it. Not having medicine combined with "pregnant brain" made it a really long 9 months for her. Luckily her work was understanding about it. I'm sorry you're having the same problems. I'd definitely talk to your doctor about it to get their thoughts on continuing with your medication or potentially upping the dose.
I stayed on my meds for both of my pregnancies. I did take a much lower dose during the first trimester but in consultation with my OB and MFM, they felt it was higher risk overall to stop cold turkey. The only time I stopped meds was during maternity leave while I was breastfeeding. Both of my kids were healthy and larger than average at birth.
The problem with any medication is that there is never, or very rarely, much research on it. Everything was harder for me while pregnant. It’s big changes all around, and you have to temporarily figure out how to work with them. Focus on the smallest parts of everything and just one thing at a time.
I just went through this and it was really tough. I worked with my doctor before getting pregnant to slowly go down on dosage so it wouldn’t feel as drastic (he told me it wasn’t necessary but I was hoping for some placebo effect to make it easier lol).
I just made sure to lean on my team, do what I could knowing that I wouldn’t be my usual 110% self during this time.
I went off my medication, but my symptoms improved significantly with both of my pregnancies.
Once I was done with BF I had to go back on but it definitely was a thing
Improved working memory is the one that stands out the most. I was able to close the loop 10x more easily on so many things, even with poor sleep and other pregnancy symptoms. I also spaced out alot less; I didn't loose time or get lost in hyperfocus like I normally would
I only stayed off my meds for the first half of my pregnancy and then went on a low dose addy as needed. If I were to have another, I would’ve only stayed off during the first trimester out of an abundance of caution and then started back on 100%. I’ve since talked to SO may women and people in the medical field and it’s fine - just like many meds - the stress on the mother is worse for the baby then the medication is.
