Retiring next year January. UCMJ mostly… and CIF.
I'm in my 10th year. I am planning at least ten more. I'm staying because I love my job, and it's still fun. When it's no longer fun, I'll bow out.
The Army is paying for my college degree and will set me up for a medical career when I get out... A career, a pension, and a degree will set me up for success when I get out after 20 years in an enjoyable field.
I genuinely love my job as an officer. I have a job that many people claim is one of the worst in the army, but I actually love being busy all day every day. It gives me purpose and makes me feel fulfilled to actually accomplish things.
The Army has funded enough education for me that I am genuinely marketable on the outside (and I don't have an MBA from WGU or something like that). If I ever feel like it's time to get out I will, but right now I am loving it and have for the past 8 years.
