Why does United have a $200 change fee 😑

I got an offer for an Amex Platinum card, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the $550 fee. If you carry a personal Amex Platinum:
1. What are the benefits you use the most?
2. Did you get a companion card, given the $175 fee?
