Are there any other highly regarded litigation or IP boutiques (or even full service firms for that matter) like Desmarais LLP that do not have billable hours? I am not talking about a firm with no "minimum required billables." Rather I am talking about a firm where all cases are either contingent or fixed fee and attorneys do not even need to track time. Seems to be a fairly rare structure.

Wouldn’t you still need to track time for any case where you might get attorneys fees?

like

Yeah it seems like a game of chicken with judges - do you risk not keeping hours tracked anyway in case they want to do lodestar? If you don’t then judges won’t wean themselves off of it. But I wouldn’t wanna do this with Alsup.

Maybe Walsh Law or Keller Postman. Both do primarily (or maybe even solely) plaintiff side work.

I doubt this is common. Many state bar associations frown on true contingent fee arrangements. And a fixed fee structure doesn’t seem to work unless the matters are very similar and routine.

as is lots of patent infringement litigation
