How to make money in stocks - William O’Neil. The intelligent investor is good too but too detailed. The ‘how to’ book summarizes lessons from a variety of stock books. Just right for a busy consultant 😊

@LEK1, not trying to hate on what seems like a very reasonable answer but that is terrible advice. There was a research paper published not too long ago where they looked at the recommendations (sell, hold, buy) and the price targets set for individual stocks and they found that the advice given was as good as flipping a coin. Essentially no statistical difference showing any amount of alpha generated based on these so called expert opinions. Realize that most financial institutions generate revenue whenever you are actively trading positions based on these recommendations. It’s in their best interest to make sure you are actively involved in trading various types of securities.

How to get started in stocks by Morningstar is a great 3 book series

+1 @D1

There are sites that track financial analyst. What they pick and how those things have performed historically. With so many people managing and forming opinions I don't know why you would need to redo any of that work. Just leverage what experts have already concluded.

Rule#1

Thanks D1! I’ll pick it up this weekend!

Crowbar and a power drill, both are very persuasive in convincing CFO’s to give you inside info on stock tips!

Hey all, I am young and looking for advice. I have 100 shares of Lucid Motors, but I am now in the red and fear it could get much worse or even go to 0.

Should I sell the shares, buy a LEAP and move the money elsewhere? This way if the stock does skyrocket I can buy back 100 shares at a cheap price? Plus LEAPS keep a lot of value based solely off the fact that there’s a lot of time left and this is a speculative stock, right?

I just opened a Fidelity HSA account so I can begin contributions. When I click on “Invest my future payroll contributions” I get an error screen that says the feature is only available for HSAs actively employed in an employer HSA relationship and not available for individual HSAs. Is this just an issue because I haven’t connected it to my payroll provider yet?

Thoughts on a joint trust or two separate trusts with your spouse? Our goal is:

1) asset protection. We’d hope the trust would hold assets such as our house, cars, etc.
2) use it as a vehicle to pass onto our future kids, for whenever we die.

Advice & resources? My spouse and I are starting to make good money (ages 28 & 31, $105k & $70k) with $10k in savings (we were hit hard financially this year) and 2 car payments.

We live in a cheap apartment ($1.3k) that is sh*tty. Don’t quite have a down payment (especially not in ATX). Is it dumb to rent a house for a year at $3k/month while we save up again?

We both didn’t come from $ and are figuring out how to not be idiots 🙃 tbh we would prefer to rent forever but that feels dumb???

What should I Invest in?

Hi there! I’m 22 y/o and make 105k in salary.
I live below my means ( converted my moms garage into a studio apartment right before pandemic so I pay no more than $375 to her, her house is paid off) my car costs me no more than $400 per month including gas insurance and payment. My credit score is 780 and I have no loans. I’m unsure of what to do. I tried doing Amazon fba but too capital intensive, interested in airbnbs don’t know where to starts! Any tips?

I had no idea that Regulation D existed (max 6 withdrawals/transfers a month out of savings account). Apparently this paused since April 2020 due to covid.

My paycheck goes straight to CapOne savings and I have a lot of transfers (assuming they are considered transfers). Lump sum to checking (rent mostly), payment of like 4 credit cards, brokerage account, maybe more.

I moved out of my parents place a year ago so maybe I never had 6+ moves until covid. Should I move this activity to checking?

Nov 2021 $1M
