Seeing some posts on layoffs in barclays. Is it true and which category of Employees will fall in that list.

Review coming up. Is now an okay time to ask for a raise? Part of me is nervous if I get a raise I’ll be the first to go if layoffs happen with the way things are going right now

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.

Sorry for the long rant, but could use advice or just encouragement.

Got laid off for the first time in my career 3 weeks ago. I have 10 years of PM experience (mostly ecommerce & experimentation). I was fortunate in the past to have had recruiters scout me directly so this is the first time in over a decade that I am applying to everything that I’m qualified for, mostly qualified for, and way over qualified for with zero leads. Only 3 interviews thus far that didn’t go forward.

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

Laid off with 1 YOE. Do I include college Awards / Extracurriculars (have just one line to list each right now) ? How about SAT scores?

Anyone dealt with age discrimination at work or thought they were fired because of it? I have a strong hunch I was let go because I'm older than most of the team and they're trying to get a "fresh perspective." To me it just sounds like they're firing anyone over 50.

Coming to the US after summer as I got my visa approved. However im seeing a lot of people commenting they got laid off. Is it risky for me to change countries right now and get a job I might lose in 3-4 months? Or it's not that bad overall?

Defendant fired his lawyer and decided to represent himself. At the hearing on his attorney’s motion to withdraw, my colleague referred to Defendant as pro se and Defendant gets mad and says “I don’t agree with what you’re saying, idk what that means!!” Um if you don’t know what pro se means maybe you shouldn’t be a pro se defendant 😳

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

I’m well liked around the office, I put in the hours and work hard, I haven’t had any dumpster fire projects, but I am a mediocre performer compared to my peers (not as strong project management, communication, not as confident). I just got told they’re firing me. Should I expect severance? Have other people been fired for similar? What did you do with your career?

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

Anyone have any affordable case management software recommendations? I’m looking for something a bit non-traditional as I work for a small nonprofit. boss fought & gave me highest performance rating of 5 (scale of 1-5, 5 being highest) but when she got her rating they gave her a 4 (saying bc forced ranking she had to take a 4 so I could get a 5?!?
