Can someone quickly tell me what people mean by job insecurity regarding Deloitte and Big 4? I have never seen anyone get fired anywhere I've worked but have heard of so many people in B4 being unable to sleep at night because of $$ insecurity or that have actually been let go. How is it so easy to be let go? (Have a lot of questions today yall - very hesitant to leave my cushy international development life for the much higher paid but stressful mainstream consulting life. Thanks)

D lets go of ~3-5% of its workforce annually but typically those people are typically lower performers that are on improvement plans. Most of the insecurity comes from the personalities of the people in the industry (in my opinion). A lot are insecure overachievers (myself included) so no matter how much work you do and how good it is you never feel secure in where you are, doesn’t mean you’ll be fired in reality but in your brain you could be.

Also a 1 in a 100 story of someone who's on the bench for months and just can't find a project and gets fired starts to make the round and everyone freaks out that they'll be next.

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!

Currently at $200K base salary (31M) - after taxes, expenses (including vaca), and savings (maxed out 401K), I’m leftover with $30k-$40k. Is this average? If not, how are ppl saving more?

What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k

Saw a specialist who’s office staff verified my insurance would fully cover the claim. Get the claim, says they are out of network. Owe 600.
