Can we have any partners within this post comment on starting partner salary, and salary growth over the years (please call out service line). Some of us are thinking of this as a career track! Cheers

Starting profit allocation is around $380K at the B4. Annual increases vary by year depending on how well you do and the firm does. But for me I am in my 16th year and make $1.3M now. So that is on average a $60K a year increase. Some years it was more and some; like 2008 and 2009 it was less. I am in International tax. Hope that helps.

First year partner comp in assurance was over 500k this year at PwC

Well I'm pretty sure we have to operate on the assumption that it's a real number, but again: OVER 500k. So anything from $500,000.01 and up is a valid guess

This is very helpful - thank you. Is 1.3 base or is this all in comp after 16 years as a partner ?

That is my base this year before year end distribution. Then next year my base will be my base from this year plus my year end distribution.

What about other top 8 firms outside of big four - like RSM, BDO, GT and Crowe. How much do first year and experienced partners there make?

Is it common for partners to have shares taken away and what are common reasons? Also can you explain what the retirement package is like? I hear it’s pension or a bulk distribution

PwC2 - highly compensated partners may loses shares in a recession. That would be the most common, but we are talking like going from making $2.2M to $2M. I guess it is possible for someone to lose shares for other reasons like some sort of independence violation but those aren’t publicized so I am speculating. I don’t know how the PwC pension works. I also don’t think there are a lot of PwC partners on FB, so would need one of them or someone familiar with their pension to chime in.

At Deloitte for MD: 225 minimum base. Minimum 20% raise from SM as after promotion 15% of salary goes into retirement plan. Not sure about the raises.
