I'd be interested in hearing what your current setup is or what it could be but here's what I do and what I recommend.

1. Smarthome automation: my lights and tv all come on at a programmed time or with a command. The news and weather gets read to me and it's a few things immediately off my list to do.

2. Separate areas to work, preferably with a 2nd screen. Allow yourself a space to hyper focus and once you step out of that space you can devote attention to other items.

3. In terms of organizing my work, I do and recommend the following:

A. Your first day open a word document and save it as "Notes," with 1 minute autosave. Keep it open all day and every day. When you get a random thought or instruction you notate with the meeting name date and/or time.

B. Calendar invites to yourself with things to do. When you get an email to do something, remove the sender and add yourself in the tp field to create a meeting. Pick a time slot for when you want to handle the item and set a meeting. Reminders suck.

C. Scheduled text messages, sort of like item b. When you don't want to forget something, maybe you can't set a meeting, schedule a text message to yourself with what you have to do.

4. Quality: Create checklists for yourself when reviewing work. As you make mistakes add those items to your QA checklist. Hope this helps.

MC1's tips are so great!

Will also add, I live my work life in OneNote. I make weekly goals, keep daily to do lists, save important emails, capture notes while doing research (all in separate notebooks of course). It's like a fully externalized, searchable brain for me.

I learned long ago that while I might have an excellent memory, I have really poor memory recall, i.e. I can't access the memory I want at will, but when a memory bubbles up, it's very detailed 😄.

You’re awesome MC1. Huge thanks for this. I don’t have one except that I use noise canceling headphones. Let me work on finding tips ideas. I will post them here so that I can give back in return for your awesomeness!

Hello Everyone!!
Happy Friday!
I wanted to let you know we are having a beginner meditation session next Tuesday Feb 9th from 8:30 - 9 PM EST.
You should see a reminder on Monday.
I’m very much looking forward to this event! If anyone else wants to volunteer to lead these mindful sessions please let me know as I’d love to make this a regular occurrence.

I've had so many patients ask me to speak to my attending. I'm a small woman, but have been an attending for 3 years now...

Hi all - looking for stats and help on what a St Consultant level III gets paid here in London? Anyone know of a good app/site that blocks your access to specific applications for a selected time?

Embarrassing to admit but I have a hard time putting my phone down and I’m sick of wasting my time. I’ve only found ones that allow you to block access to selected apps but it also allows you to end the blocking period whenever you’d like (thus not really helping my ADHD impulses). Open to hearing suggestions!

My fiancé and i have been fighting almost daily recently. We are both at fault and i very clearly see how i contribute to the problems. His issue is anger management, my issue is serious depression and the negativity it causes. We both apologize for our faults and take responsibility but the same problems are reoccurring. We love each other and want things to work but we’re both going insane. Feeling unprepared for marriage and unsure about the path forward.

Since Citiustech is shifting to wfo from august, Is anyone being allowed to continue wfh?

I’ve been living with various levels of depression for many years. I’ve been steady on my medication and, for the most part, I’ve stayed pretty level. But man, in this new world of being unemployed and uncertain, I’m really struggling. I really don’t think I’m suicidal. But I find myself thinking a lot about what would happen if I died. Stuff like the fact that nobody outside of my family and maybe one or two people would even come to my funeral. I’m feeling very unimportant. Anyone relate? 😕

I started at a US-based company about 3 weeks ago in a permanently remote role based out of Canada. Since it is a remote job, I planned to visit my family in December who stay in another country and continue working from there as per my current time zone for a couple of weeks. My manager shot down this plan saying I’m too new to make this work and I should have told this before I joined, he’d have delayed my joining. Am I being unreasonable in my request? I would be grateful for any advice. TYSM
