As a consumer creative who occasionally freelances in pharma, sometimes we have to say things like this because it sounds better than “I’m burned out working at normal agencies and I heard the hours are better.”
...dead inside. Yeah, I hear you.
"shoes matter. IE, Toms" is one of the best quotes I've read on here. Genuinely made me laugh out loud.
Toms.... Ok.
I’d rather work on shoes than be a mouthpiece for the evil pharma industry. You think you’re doing work that matters but eventually you realize you’re just helping to line their pockets so they can raise drug prices. Been there, done that. Never Again.
If it weren’t for big pharma, many of us would be dead. Ever think of that? Who do you think makes life-saving medicines and vaccines? Boutiques in Soho?
Big Pharma also apparently makes a really potent kool-aide
Oh hay. I went from shoes to pharma too randomly.
Toms?
Been in pharma 20 years and sleep soundly each night. The oncology work we do is for life-saving drugs that change lives. Yeah, there are some crappy drugs, but overall I'd much rather develop a website that will help a daughter care for her mother over a commercial about
sugary cereals. The beauty is, we get to
choose!
I respect that you’re happily making a living in this industry, so this isn’t a snarky question - but when you say “we get to choose”, do you mean choose between the sugary cereal accounts and the pharma accounts? Because once a creative crosses into pharma, it’s unlikely that they’ll get to make that choice.
