Hi everyone, I’m currently a tax associate and just graduated back in May. I’m starting to feel really burnt out and dislike what I do and want to get out of accounting completely. I can’t deal with the hours and the strictness of billing time. My degree is in business admin (I concentrated in accounting) and want to try something else. How hard is it for a Staff II in audit to transition to Tech Risk Management at EY or the other big 4 for that matter? Or would it be easier to move to a mid sized firm for a position like that.

What happens if you recurved Becker CPA material from Deloitte after your internship, but decide to not accept the offer and go work somewhere else?

I think I’m ready to finally take the plunge and start looking for positions outside public. I’m not sure as a first year senior what I would qualify for or common roles tax seniors exit to. I would definitely be open to no longer working in tax.

Do you guys think that when you make the switch to industry you should try to land a job at a public company? I want to make $300-$400k eventually as a CFO one day and I think that going into a public company will get me there instead of switch to a private. What do you think?

How do search for non-audit roles that are within reach for someone with core audit experience? Everyone seems to go straight to another firm’s M&A as if that’s the only option.
