The last two jobs I had was both through recruiters.
Through a recruiter. I feel like finance is such a tough industry to join without a recruiter's help or a referral. Cold applying to company websites hasn't been even half as successful as working with a recruiter for me.
I got my current role through a recruiter, but all of my previous roles came as a direct applicant. Seems like most companies are going the recruiter route now.
I would highly suggest using a recruiter. Lately a lot of these job postings are fake. You’ll apply, have several interviews & be ghosted or be lied to about hybrid/remote opportunities. Recruiters have direct contact with jobs & it’s way more efficient right now.

I applied directly to company site
It’s a tricky time right now. I’ve seen leaders pull reqs because the market has changed. Anything that’s been posted for weeks/months I would avoid. If it’s a new post, it’s most likely been approved recently and less likely get pulled while they are interviewing.
Also, recruiters provide candidate slates - but hiring managers make the decision. Invest in networking with hiring managers and leaders. Their candidate preference get much further. And you should be doing this proactively if you have a destination role in mind.
