I’m a designer in the planning/landscape architecture dept. of a CE firm. Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead. I just recently joined a team. The organization's stand is they don't care where we work from. Most people work from office once/twice a week and I generally go once a week.

While I was recruited I was told my role doesn't require me to be in office. I now have a new manager (diff from the one who interviewed me) and he indirectly keeps pointing out that I am not in office often like "oh anyway you are in only on Thursdays" etc on multiple instances.
