Boyfriend has seemed to be dropping a ton on me lately, even after I got bad news that my company is t doing so hot this week and layoffs are approaching. First it was that we may be moving to another state for his job, then it was that his brother may need to move in with us for a few months after he graduates

It’s just a bit overwhelming at this time and I’m not sure how to communicate through all of this being thrown at me. 3 yrs together and we were friends for many years before that.

A little over a year ago, I posted about my boss making constant comments about my salary. Most comments said I must not have been performing well. I want to update that he was fired, not me.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I got this invite shortly after. The place I’m interviewing at the job wouldn’t start til next year. I dont want to seem like a job hopper. Do i tell them I’m at a new role or just not bring it up? Didn't have top grades, wasn't on law review. Worked at a midsize firm and was laid off in march-- have about 3 years experience in a hot practice area. Have been applying and had some interviews at larger shops but nothing has come of it. I'm still applying to roles (not many out there) in my area but coming to the realization based on number of larger firm rejection letter that I may not find a role.
