Yeah, I’d agree with the comment above. Just because I can rally and/or push through doesn’t actually mean the root cause is gone. Sometimes I too feel better when I do, but I find that sort of push through normally comes with an exhaustion/depression whiplash afterwards.
But every brain is different! If it works for you, run with it.
(That said, when you do give yourself time or space, you’re not being lazy. ❤️)

Sure, this may work — but not for everyone.
Depression and perceived laziness/lack of energy can go hand in hand, and your depression can still be very well even if you are able to push yourself out of it. If rousing yourself out of bed with tough love works, then more power to you!
I think discipline can help fight depression. Especially in mild cases, getting up earlier to meditate or exercise or self care can make the day much brighter, which then in turn changes the week and so on and so forth. Listening to yourself to see if you need rest and softer selfcare or to push yourself to get up and go is important. We need both. Sometimes the push can push us away from confronting stuff. So let yourself wallow in it sometimes… but like a good meeting: with a time limit, objective and next steps.
I absolutely love this response. Thank you so much.
