Considering offers from BCG Platinion and Salesforce right now. Still trying to get a grip on community and culture of both places. You find some pretty bad reviews for Platinion online but I always wonder whether the people who are content actually go out of their way to write reviews... Anyone with experience at either?

No we hate it when you guys come and try to make our state blue
EY10, I would encourage you to read some more history books on this subject. The argument you are using is literally the exact same argument like verbatim that was used to engage in the mass genocide of native Americans and other peoples. Timeframes matter…Hunter gathers had settled there for thousands of years before Europeans ever knew it even existed. Europeans didn’t have an inherent moral right over it just because they had advanced farming concepts. You could say they have a “survival of the fittest” right to it, which is obviously self-evident. However, if you want to use that as your argument, you are in company with the Nazis. They also used that argument…frequently.
We actually view those places as run down, homeless, overly inflated, tax-ridden and poorly managed states.
EY 3. I would argue that California does not have a functional grid. Rolling blackouts are quite common

In general, we don’t care where you come from as long as you aren’t a dick and want to make it an even better place to live and work than it already is. I can only speak for myself, but I don’t consider the West Coast or NY as upscale or classy. They’re just other places to live. 2 pointers if you move here: Don’t project an attitude that those places are somehow better than Texas and don’t try to make Texas into what you’re leaving behind, generally speaking. It won’t go over well.
What do you mean it is not upscale or better? Personally I enjoy the trash bags all along the neighborhoods the live music in the subway from people that are high as a kite playing with buckets and pans and the spring smell of chinatown and times square. Almost forgot the rats fighting for their seat in the train

Just don’t vote for liberal taxes in Texas and you’ll be good. Remember why you’re leaving CA/NYC
If you want to say it’s all about local gov style, just remember the top 3 large markets for tech growth are Vancouver, Seattle and Montreal. So…
New York City is garbage bags on the street, cigarette butts on the floor, shits on the subway. Talk about upscale!
I disagree. Michelin star is not a proxy for culture, maybe exclusivity. It's not like little Italy or Greek town is full of Michelin stars. I feel NYC is really big into keeping folks out (clubs, restaurants, hotels) and thats fine because it offers everything for everyone. Same with Texas, Austin is a great place for everything modern with actual affordability, great night life and live music scene. But too each it's own.

I’m Australian but live in NY (have been here for 10 years),
When I visit Texas, I just say I’m from Australia because being from NY doesn’t go down well there.
You should always lean in, and be open to changing your mind.
On the cruise ship we caught Covid on, last winter, we had some fantastic discussions with a very conservative Canadian (I'm also Canadian) and a very left-wing Texan.
I’m from Texas. Lived in NYC and London and back to Texas. Live in the Hill Country now.
Went Pepperdine for undergrad and UT for grad school. UT’s MBA is top notch in quality and opportunity. And, yes, even the smart girls are hot.
We don’t admire folks from the East or West Coast. We do appreciate them wanting to move here because they’re finally enlightened. We’re accepting of “foreigners” and quite welcoming. (How many times have I brought wine or a brisket or both to new neighbors? A lot.) Bottomline, we’re okay with you coming here but deep down we’re extra glad that we have the Texas birthright. Texas is a better state than most. It’s hot AF but otherwise we think you can’t beat it on all the other qualities — cost of living, friendliness, state of mind, education, etc.
New Yorkers are supposed to move to Florida not Texas.
We’re just annoyed at your people driving up our cost of living
To be fair Houston had some of the worst traffic I’ve ever experience in the CONUS.
Yes, we enviously admire the impeccable coastal education that leads someone to say “admired to.”
We accept Joe Rogan and Elon Musk but we have reached capacity. Thank you for understanding. 🤠
Uhh yeah be a careful what you wish for with Musk. Texans love the jobs, money and bragging about him moving his business there but his goal is pretty literally to make gas cars a thing of the past. Not sure Texans are super into renewables replacing oil.
Why would anyone want to live in Texas? I would wear not being admired by Texans as a badge of honor. And why is this even a conversation?
The only places I’d want to live in TX aren’t that much cheaper.
Also why is half this thread just describing upper middle class non-HCOL suburbia as seen in almost every state as a special Texas feature?
Nope
Why are Texans complaining here. The “New Yorkers” (quotes emphasized) who move to Texas aren’t the highbrow stereotype at all.
The ones who move to Texas are the hillbillies of New York. New York Post–reading, F150-driving suburban and rural Long Islanders who have more in common with middle America than people who live in the City of New York. They are the Texans of New York. You wouldn’t even know they weren’t Texan if it weren’t for their thick NY accents.
Gosh, I wonder why Californians and New Yorkers have such a reputation. Not to worry, stay in your paradise, please.

I moved away 7 years ago. Recently looked at moving back. Housing prices are getting ridiculous! I bought my first house south of Raleigh for $146k 10 years ago. It recently sold again for $245k with no improvements. And thanks to Apple building a campus, it’s only going to get worse.
No one likes NYer. Even CA folks dont like them. Go figure.
You’ve obviously never been to Texas. Particularly Dallas which is very upscale, trendy, classy
Having been born and raised in Dallas and lived in LA for the last 10 years, I can say that Californians and Texans both think their state is the best. Californians are very in your face about their state pride: “We don’t do this in CA’, or “That’s so LA of you” whereas Texans are surprisingly more subtle than Californians.
Also, there are great things with both states! They’re both home to me, so I hope I’m not biased. I can say California is struggling these days, and a lot of the problems plaguing the state are self inflicted. When companies have freedoms to work remotely, there’s a reason many fled to Texas. Just my 2¢

Ultimately, if they can’t fund it, they’ll ask for a bailout from the feds.
Tell me you have an inflated sense of self and where you're from without telling me you have an inflated sense of self and where you're from.
“Don’t move to Texas. It’s bad here. Please stay in your blue states. All the trumpers are all “mean”. Please don’t move here. Stay put.”
Objectively, as someone who grew up in the Northeast, the people here are SOO MUCH NICER. Austin is the rudest city because we have California AND Northeast snobs - it’s like 30-50% nice Texans and 50-70% stuck-up elitist folks.
I initially thought this post had to be a joke. Unfortunately, it appears that I am sadly mistaken. Losing faith in humanity...
