In this new year, I would like to get better at investing. I am embarrassed to say that all I have done is max out my 401K every year. And while I do have savings, its sitting in a bank account unused and just making the bank money. A big part is the lack of knowledge I have on the subject. I just don't know where to start, any suggestions on good how to books for beginners? What daily news sections should I be reading?

Any advice on how to get into the sales side of Investment Banking? I have above average experience, have a finance background degree but keep failing the initial application stages (before the interview stages) and then watch people on LinkedIn with less experience get roles with top banks.
