I’d prob call it off.
Unless save the dates went out. Then I’d probably just get married and work through it. No joke that’s what I’d do. You’re the one who asked the internet.
A2 - maybe we’re crazy, but I feel the exact same way🤣
Why is he t trying to get rid of a pet? That sounds insane but maybe there’s a bigger issue here
Urination issues for cats are usually symptomatic of something more serious, unless it’s bc the litter box is dirty.
My fiancé jokes about getting rid of one of our 2 cats sometimes (he does crazy zoomies and yells in the middle of the night), but if he were serious that would be a dealbreaker for me
Have you taken the cat to the vet and tried the medical science diet that addresses urinary issues and stress? It worked wonders for my cat
Sounds like you should both at least pause the wedding stuff.
He should deal with the custody situation, speak to a therapist about how he's feeling, and practice healthy argument/communication behaviour. You should sort out your triggers and deal breakers, with yourself or a therapist, and address the cat issues if they are fixable (we have two cats but no urination issues).
Or something more final, depending on what you both want.
If your cat is stressed, consider discussing prozac with your vet. If your partner is stressed, consider discussing your relationship with a therapist.
But really - prozac works wonders for my dog!
If my (new, got married about a week ago) husband got rid of my dog while I was out of the house, pretty sure that would be a deal breaker. Yeah we love our husbands but our legs have a different part of our heart. But I agree with some of the other people- this seems like a different and bigger issue too
Dogs* 🤣
…. At the same time, I had a reaction to what he said. Now he has said that he won’t actually do that and he was mad. I understand and get where he was coming from. He doesn’t understand that he hit a big button for me and I reacted in the way I did. He is hurt and basically ready to walk away from our relationship.
I don’t know what to do
Bigger issues: cats have been misbehaving a lot (fighting and urination issues) meanwhile, high conflict custody battle with his ex wife. So he is triggered and fight got out of control. I reacted, albeit badly, bc his cat comment triggered me and my prior marriage. Long story short: we both said crappy hurtful things, and now he thinks that we are doomed, he’s expendable, and it’s just a matter of time before we end. I am at a loss for how to get past this one. He says he understands we were both in a bad place and said bad things, but he can’t help how he feels
