I am looking for two new teachers (0-5 years) who would be interested in participating in a study I am doing as a Doctoral Candidate at Baylor. The study looks to understand the experiences women working in the field of education have had that triggered shame and explore their resilience. If you are interested, click the link below to get started: bit.ly/ShameResilienceStudy

One thing that has been a huge hit with my classes and garnered the most engagement has been editing celebrity social media posts. And trust me...there's plenty of material to work with.
I'm not sure how I feel about this idea 😂.
I will occasionally let them pull a topic from Twitter and debate/discuss. Beware of who you're choosing to let pick the tweets though, some of my students have abused it so we've lost it for a while. Sparked some great and insightful conversations though!
My school has us on a 'word of the day' program that I use to inspire every day's bell ringer. Sometimes I'm specific about what I want to see them do with the word, but other times I leave it more open-ended. As long as they demonstrate that they understand what the word means, I accept it.
I have these question balls that we toss around for a few minutes. They have 30 sentence stems that the student verbally completes. Can’t get them to talk in front of the group, but the ask for question ball time.
I made mine up.
I have had my 8th grader's draw their biggest fears...I've also had them draw themselves as they think they look without a mirror....At the beginning of the year we had a lot of SES work and were also working on the climate and culture of the building and I wanted to know where students saw themselves fitting in the building and had them draw pictures of that image...that was probably the one that stood out the most....BUT as this month is National Poetry Month we recently did Black Out Poems with old books that were being destroyed at the end of the year to repurpose them...those images are my favorite.
