No, use Joseph Phillips free course on Udemy.
I just passed the PMP a month ago and took the Master of Project course. It was like $60 / month and I studied for 2 months
EY will reimburse you for it depending on your practice.
For bootcamp, books, exam fee etc
I used the Velociteach review book and read it once. Took practice exams to get me an idea what the PMP exam is looking for. Read it again.
I passed above target in all sections.
Here is what I wish I didn’t do:
Memorize the ITTOs. These exam review vendors emphasize it because without going through the ITTOs in exhaustive / useless detail they won’t have a “course” to sell.
Based on the actual PMP exam questions I feel I was ready to pass right after the first reading and 300 practice exams.
Here is my PMP exam experience:
85% or so of the questions were all situational. The best answer I feel was the answer that most closely aligned with PMP’s methodology around change control (don’t worry, the Velociteah review book does a great job of outlining the pervasive themes you need for the exam) and PMI Code of Conduct (Velociteach has a good section on this as well).
15% of questions gave a scenario Abd asked which tool should be used (or is being used), what knowledge area/process group the PM should leverage, EMV calculations. What’s awesome is that the answer choices are so liberal you can immediately eliminate 2 of the answer choices if you read the exam review material to understand it.
Overall, you need to fail a section or 2 to fail the exam all together. I have a buddy who hit below target in one section, above target on another, and rest were on target and he got his certification. He didn’t read anything. He just took a few hundred review sections and then took the exam.
Take everything I wrote with a grain of salt. The exam content completely changed and I read it includes more IT PM methodologies like DevOps, XP, etc. There is debate if the grading methodology changed with it. Also, PMI no longer accepts prerecorded remote online prep course PDUs like Udemy courses. You will have to attend live session by one of their approved vendors if you don’t have the PDUs to sit for the exam.
Wow, this is super helpful! Thank you!!
