freelancers, what has your experience been like breaking into getting gigs the top agencies (wk, rethink, droga, mother). I have a good book and worked at solid agencies, great references but have a hard time getting an email back when I reach out. Is it just about who you know?

I received an offer and asked about their parental leave. I don't plan on having kids anytime soon but would like to in 3-5 years and hope I can start a long-term career here. Was that a weird question to ask? The company initially responded that they are rewriting it so I didn't get much detail.

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. After being mugged and having my things (including my keys) stolen, I was locked out of my townhome after business hours on a weekend. I was told on the phone when dialing my complex’s after hours number (which is managed by a 3rd party company) that my complex’s policy would let me in for a cost of $100 (as it was after hours). After I was let in, property manager informed me the charge was $200. Is there anything I can do here? This is in Minnesota. Help appreciated!!
