Interviewing with a newer fund that offers carry for sr associates tryna figure out the math to negotiate:

Let’s say $1b fund, 20% fund carry pool, 0.5% fund level allocation (aka $1m carry at work), 5 year fund starting now, straight line vesting, 40% irr in previous fund so call it 5x MoM for this fund. If I leave in 3 years, is the payout $1b x 20% x 0.5% x 3/5 x 5 = $3m pre LT gains tax in year 6 (assuming euro waterfall instead of American)
