Go to synagogue and cherish the time you have with grandpa. Lost my grandfather almost 3 years ago-would love to have spent more time with him
Agree with this advice 100%. Who knows, you may even find there are parts of the orthodox synagogue that you enjoy. Try to look for the good in a different experience
I feel like when we’re at synagogue, we sit separately (men and women sit separately), so we’re not really spending time together.
Just for transparency-orthodox Jew (man) who prays in a separate seats synagogue.
It’s the small things like walking to shul, talking about the sermon, having the kiddush that are also important.
When I’m at my parents house for shabbat, I try to pray where my father is praying because we have really nice conversations and it’s just us.
Not sure I understand your refusal to go with him to synagogue or his threat to cut you off, both seem extreme to me. Have you tried talking about and understanding each other's pov and reaching a compromise e.g., you join him every 2nd week or once a month?
