Have any of you ever actually been told, “you’re fired."

Got laid off on July2, still no unemployment payments from NYS. Is everyone having that kind of delay? Impossible to get through to unemployment on the phone.

Resume question I've had three positions over my career one of which lasted 3 months and that I got fired from, the job search took an additional 2 months. Is it worth it to leave the 3 month stint off my resume? It might be easier to explain getting fired then a 5-month gap I was thinking

Looking for respectful ways to manage helping people in need of a job or seeking mentorship. I get 3-4 requests a week from mutual contacts asking if I can connect with a former colleague (always broad). Typically the ask is a 30-45 min call. I’ve been laid off, I know how hard a time it is, but equally am working long hours, parenting and want to reserve time for those I know. How do others manage these extra calls into their weeks?

Can you get fired for having low utilization as a senior? My billable hours this busy season have been much lower than my peers.

Is it just me or do 90% of the jobs being laid off by big tech sound made up? Many job descriptions with multiple bullet points that all kinda revolve around the same idea. What’s the best way to negotiate more money during a contract to FTE conversion? My manager and I had the conversion convo today and he said he’d like to convert me immediately and took the action item to do so. In terms of comp he said they should already have what I’m expecting but I don’t think I communicated any FTE number to my contracting company.
