Hello all!

I finally received a great job offer at a uni. I’ve signed the offer letter and am currently waiting on the contract to be generated. They told me to be alert this week but my boss at my current role has a short week ahead. I did ask them if possible to send it to me quicker so I can let him know and be within the two week notice. They have yet to give me an update. If they still don’t get it to me by this week would it be ok to put my notice in anyway without having signed?

Never do that, ever. Only put in notice after every T crossed and I dotted and everyone has signed.

Yeah, I’m rooting this goes through for you but employers often run into unforeseen hurdles when hiring and may even rescind offers. It’s in your best interest to play the long game. Contracts can take time to draft as well so patience is the best thing to do at this time.

like

I would highly suggest that you wait until you have a concrete offer in hand...Signed, sealed, and delivered!

like

Thank you all! They are a reputable place so I wasn’t too concerned over not signing but I should of course wait.

I can tell you that Universities move at their own pace…… they are terrible places to work!!! The worst career move i have ever made!!

Always wait for the signed official offer!

like

NOOOO. not until you have an orientation date.

Ugh, sorry you’re going through this crunch however with what is going on these days-do not give notice until you receive the contract from the new company!!!!! You need to look out for yourself.

No , do not put in your notice till you have signed your offer

Thanks, guys! I did end up signing the contract and put in my two weeks a while ago. My start date is coming up!

I have an offer to join a startup as an APM. The only downside is that the engineering team is located offshore in India. I’m concerned about the resulting impact because of 1) the potential late night calls 2) the learning opportunities missed by not working with a US engineering team (communication tactics, translatable skills) 3) potential exit opps into FAANG pm roles due to not having experience with an onshore eng team. Would any one be able to speak to this from experience or share advice

There are lot of mixed reviews about Nagarro.. some folks are saying Nagarro do not fire even in covid the only did the pay cuts and did not fire anyone... where as some folks are saying Nagarro is hiring rigorously more than their projects strength so firing will happen for sure and if you are on bench for more than 1 month you are in red zone as the same happened in past... what is the mystery.. can anyone from Nagarro an honest review about this organization.

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
