I just got laid off about a month ago. It was the biggest blessing because the place was severely dysfunctional. I’ve been in tech for over 12 years and I was told how standard practices were wrong by my colleagues. I’ve been interviewing like crazy and I am getting traction with all of the FAANG companies. These are my dream jobs and I feel like I am getting close to receiving offers soon. They say success comes to those who have something to prove, and I have a LOT to prove to the haters!!

Gov attorney, 8 years out of law school and will make over $100k for the first time this year. Gov benefits are great and WLB is amazing (I have a wife and child). We are less than 2 hours from all of our collective family now. I have an offer with a small firm I am highly interested in. $165k base + bonus for only 1800 billable hours, but it is 8+ hours from our families. $90k in student loan debt left. Am I wrong for wanting to take the money?

I am engaged in the relationship for 13 years with 2 kids. We are in the process of planning for a wedding, but I have some thoughts on my fiancé relationship with his parents. He will not stand up to them when it comes to me. We live a few mins away from them, they just always feels it’s fine to just stop by whenever they want without notice. Looking to brainstorm a bit here: my fiancé is potentially going to start looking for a new role after tax season is over. He has about 3.5 years of experience as an account manager at an environmental tech company and then made a career switch to accounting at his family’s firm for 3 years. I think he would like to get back into sales/account management but looking to see what everyone’s advice would be in terms of type of roles and companies to go after!

Work for a company recently bought by Private Equity (US owned, Australian branch) with the view to become SVP HR as the company grows (they have plans). Currently 180 people but should be 300 in next few years in Pharma.

I recently got laid off and am really grateful to have received a job offer pretty quickly. It’s for an outsourced HR company where I would be HR/Payroll Manager for about 10 small to mid-size clients. Curious people’s thoughts on if this would be a step back career wise? I worry not working for a dedicated company could hurt my resume. My job titles before this were HR Business Partner, Recruiting Operations Lead and HR Specialist.

Thoughts on PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certs? I have approximately 9 years of HR exp and my bachelors and MBA. Been debating on whether or not I need to fulfill my urge to get a certification.
