For me I'm trying to call my non work friends on weekends while also taking time for myself to rest from all of the work video calls - and also thinking about how I've got to invest more energy in my fellow femmes overall! 🥰

Just joined this bowl so know this is a delayed reply. My primary 🏳️‍⚧️ support group has migrated to entirely zoom based. A second one I joined had done a bunch of online meetings but has since petered out. I am in NY so wouldn’t feel safe socializing in person. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I come from a racist, xenophobic family that thinks feminism is ridiculous - lovely people, I know . My nephew is almost 3 and such a sweet boy, for now. By now, nearly every CEO of a major company has made some public statement or proclamation of their commitment to racial equality, diversity, and such matters. What percent of those do you believe truly comes from the heart and a bias for both personal and corporate action, versus a necessary public relations response with little personal ownership? My view: about 30%. That is still a great number, because it’s far higher than zero.

Currently talking to recruiters for a new job and it is honestly such a turnoff when they talk too much about having a strong company culture and/or talking about making sure I'm a good fit culturally. For me that borders on culty and is a red flag. I would much rather hear from a recruiter that a workplace's "culture" is that they are accepting of all cultures, diversity, and personality types.

Thought: When you see diversity of skin color as the most critical factor you miss out of diversity of experience and ideas. Quite often these overlap, but there are a lot of people out there like JD Vance who come from poor white roots, but because of their skin color they’re assumed to have some magical privilege bestowed upon them by society. Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.

When it comes to recruiting, is it good for the industry when the first word out of HR is "diversity" and not "talent?"

We are more than supportive and I would do anything for this kid. However, we have a serious dilemma if we should let his parents know or help him share how the situation? Student debt crisis solution: Instead of Federal government backing student loans we shift it to the endowments to give the schools some skin in the game. Should bring down runaway tuition inflation and all of these whacky programs like Bachelor of Mystic Arts in Salamander Gender Disparity. Payback structure should look like the income sharing agreements that are popping up in startup world to replenish endowments.
