Get a personal loan, put the money in saving account.. pay the fee and interest for 6 months and repay the loan
What A2 said. Figure out which one of the factors you aren't measuring up to. One big one I fixed was being over 50% on a singe card ( my CSR). I just had them bump the limit and I was golden. +35 pts
Use CreditKarma - it's free and gives you estimated TransUnion and Experian score every month. You can model what different things will do to your score. Highly recommend.
Capital one has a good credit tracker if you have a card. Gives you a grade in each of the key factors that impact your score.
@A3 you can use that tracker even if you don't have a card. I use it.
How many credit cards do you have? What's your debt to credit ratio? What's your total extended credit? When was your oldest credit card? Assuming you've never missed a payment before, these are all the components to calculate a credit score
I keep getting declined for a CSR. My CS is around 700-720. What can I do?
A4 you can also move credit lines between different cards with the same bank. Great trick if you have a card you use more often than another
What about credit repair services? Where they dispute items on your behalf and help clean it up?
Like I said... CreditKarma! Answers all these questions :) tells you all the factors, your score, and their influence on the overall score
Use a credit union, better rates
Bring your credit outstanding below 10% all times. Keep on using card but pay it constantly. Then get some other credit card with some large credit approvals. As you lower your credit utilization percentage the score will definitely go up.
Pay your bills on time.
Quickest thing is to increase your credit limits on cards and keep your utilization low - in aggregate and on each card. Medium term, having more credit accounts of different types (e.g. personal loan, mortgage, auto, card) also helps but if you don't have them now, opening new ones can temporarily lower your score due to the additional credit inquiries showing up in your file. Having more than 1 or 2 recent inquiries can lower your score a bit for a year or so.
Requesting a limit increase counts as a hard inquiry, I wouldn't waste inquiries on doing that on all your cards
At least in my own experience (with Amex), they don't do a new hard inquiry for a limit increase on an existing card if you've been consistently using and paying it for a while. But fair point that other card co's, under other circumstances, might. If doing it just to improve your score, worth checking before you do. And you don't need to increase limit on many cards - I would just increase the limit on the card you use the most.
