How difficult is it to get a vet assistant job right out of high school?

Not too difficult, depending on what your local veterinarian would have you do. Anyone can clean cages, but if you want to help in the more technical side of things you'll probably want to get yourself a certification as a Vet Assistant

If you do choose to pursue one of these certifications, it would likely take around 9 months to complete

Not hard at all, plenty of practices don't even ask for a certification to work as an assistant, although being certified will make you a more appealing applicant

lotta people work as one straight out of high school, so i'd say it's not very hard

Veterinary assistant jobs are not typically available right out of high school. Most positions require at least some post-secondary education or training. However, there are some entry-level positions available, and these may be a good option for someone who is interested in a career in veterinary medicine.

It depends on the veterinary clinic. Some may require experience, but many clinics are happy to hire assistants with little to no experience. Best of luck!

It depends on your local area, but usually not at all. Vet offices are so busy right now, help is almost always needed.

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

We discussed that results/outputs is better than billable time like in law and public accounting. Yet, his parents and others would view him as “lazy” but he does his job and makes a fantastic living. Time>Money and Results>Hours
