Cont’d: I just don’t know what the difference is between “true” depression and just hating my job/life right now
Can you still function and perform your regular day to day activities? Can you still get up in the morning and go about your day? If you can then the depression might just be work related and you might be burnt out
They say that true depression is marked by 3 serious episodes of depression lasting a month or longer. That’s how I was diagnosed with clinical depression. A few months ago my depression stemmed from work which flowed over into other parts of my life and made me overall unhappy and hard to be around.
Situational can lead to chronic. Find a mental health counselor who can help you sort things out. The deeper your depression, the more your performance will suffer - and you will start to hate yourself for screwing up. That can become self-reinforcing behavior, and you might not even realize that it is happening.
