How do you maintain your fitness? Do you work out at a gym? Some of our guys spend like hours working out in their free time and I'm thinking I should probably get on board at least some.

I don't go to the gym. I have my home equipment and I do cardio exercises every morning and sometimes 2 hours before I go to sleep. It gives me a good night sleep.

like

I exercise as much as possible during my free time, even when alone. Working on my core every morning, cardio whenever I'm on leave, and going to the gym at least once a week for weights. Of course, eating lots and lots of protein helps.

Oh, i love to work out. I work out about 1-1/12 hours a day!

You get a monthly salary so you have options. 1. Join a gym/get a personal trainer. 2. Form a group of highly motivated persons in your section, create a schedule and do PT. You are solely responsible for your career and unlike basic, no one is gonna push you to be better than you push yourself. Spend some of that good Army money on improving your training with an actual fitness coach/dietitian or local CrossFit gym. But don’t train like in basic. That is unsustainable. Smarter not harder.

like

Thanks! That sounds reasonable. That's what I fear - the workouts being like those in basic. I'd like a personal trainer if it wasn't too intense. Would you happen to have any suggestions for finding a great personal trainer?

Yup I wake up at 5am and workout for 2 hours monday through friday

I have a lot of workout equipment at my house so I set up an at home fitness center in my basement

Going for a run every day. 2 miles. I try to do it in the morning but sometimes it happens in the afternoo

Does anyone have experience breaking up w a therapist? I've been seeing my therapist for 5+ years for eating disorder treatment and we've been through so much together, but I don't think she's able to help me anymore. While I've stopped my ED behaviors, they've evolved into OCD, and I'm finding that her methods might be making it worse. I think I want to try an OCD expert instead. But I don't know how to end the relationship. Do I just stop going? Do I explain myself? I don't know what to do 🥺

I have pretty bad anxiety to the point where it affects my job performance and will cause me to waste hours because I'm trying to cope with symptoms. I hate that xanax works so well and am terrified of getting addicted to it. Wasted 2 hours this morning panicking and thinking I was about to have a heart attack or something stupid, then I took a xanax and drank some tea and I'm super focused again and my productivity is way up. Anyone else take xanax? I usually only do like 2x a week.

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

If your an experienced staff or senior with hedge- fund experience and want to move to Dallas, DM me to discuss discretely. Honestly great team. Turnover has been low for last 18 months at 10%. Compared to 40-50% in other places. Crazy hours feb-apr, 40 apr-jul, 45 in Aug, maybe 50-60 that last week of aug/ early sept. <40 post 9/15. We have a need at the senior level to fill a gap. Seniors help is needed everywhere so if your interested, come cash in your chips!

Why do leaders keep comparing how “good”the new staff/seniors have it because they make more money starting out then they did and working 55 hours is better than the 70-80 hours they used to work? Instead they should compare what options they have available to them and what their goals are.
