That’s something I’ve struggled with as a para. My struggle though is the gen ed teachers who don’t want to deal with my students.
I struggle with gen ed teachers not supporting and communicating and admin who throw us under the bus and don’t teach students to take responsibility
Wow, I thought it was just me. It is isolating and the students are why I teach, but the admin and gen ed attitude towards me sucks the life out of my sails
I encourage everyone to go to their administrators and express (with solutions) the challenges and how to alleviate them in favor of students. Legally it is SUPER important to have things running smoothly for SPED and the whole school needs to have buy-in and understanding on why SPED students are not just for SPED teachers.
Let me rephrase. I love my students and family. I don’t feel supported by paras and administration
Know that you are helping exceptional children who deserve the same opportunity as every other child. Know that you are doing a job most don’t have the courage to do.
