How do you stop being a people pleaser in this industry?

You have to find out how to stop worrying about what they think of you. Then you need to learn how to stand up for yourself and say no when it matters. It took me getting broken, to figure that out. If you can work on yourself before that happens, or talk to a professional, I'd recommend that to my experience.

Try to sit down and figure out why you need the approval of other people. What if you used the energy that you use to please these people and please yourself instead? What I've learned is when you value your time more and other's comments less, it becomes easier. And also, being direct with people you interact with in your line of work may make them not like you, but you also get more respect as I guess it's seen as confidence or that they trust your opinion more.

Isn’t that our job though? To please the client?

I'm not in sales per se but I manage my company's largest wholesale account ($150 million per/yr account). It's a great company, awesome culture, good benefits, flexibility, but the pay is not great ($60K/yr). All the pros outweighed the mediocre pay, but now with inflation rising, my paycheck isn't going as far and I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out if I should start looking elsewhere or if I should ask my boss for a raise.

Hello Guys,

I joined
Cognizant recently, the project interview calls which I am getting is not from my base location.
I have the location constraint, should I wait for the right opportunity or raise this concern to ADP team so they can look in to it?

As per ADP policy, one should not have any constraints and take the project as FCFS basis.

I recently had an interview with a very promising pre-IPO company in the AI/ML space for a SE leadership position. The interview feedback was better than I expected, but with a twist. They have already given the offer to someone else, but they still want to bring me on board and they asked me what I would like to do. I am in the process of gathering more info, but it is tempting to ask about pivoting into product management. What would you do in this situation?

Hello, anyone who worked or who's working at Hashicorp. How is it for a Sales Engineer?

Currently a Solutions Consultant at Pegasystems.

I am interviewing at and considering making a jump to
Oracle as a Specialist Solutions Consultant.

The reason for my move is currently at Pega SCs are treated more as AEs or Account Managers. The role at Oracle would be more of a true SC position. I also feel that Oracle will look BETTER on a resume and someone as young as me would have BETTER programs in place to train me and give me the foundation needed to be a successful SC.

Thoughts?
