I’m never motivated. I just get it done and check it off my list. Just go. The hardest part is getting out the car and walking in. Once you’re in there, you will do something that makes you feel good!
It depends what is best for you. Do you like to do it first thing in the AM or do you prefer after work? You need to make it part of your schedule. If you work out in the morning, you need to factor in time to work out, shower, and travel to work. After work, you need to shut off and make it a point to work out - then go back to whatever work project you needed to finish if you had one. It depends on your schedule and personal life.
I have trained for 12 marathons while working full time. My motivation is not being ready on marathon day and bonking at mile 21. 😅 Btw, I'm not a fast runner, just very tenacious.
Currently 8 months pregnant and still working out. Different kind of marathon. My motivation is preparing my body for labor and delivery and maintaining mobility.
Why not work out at home?
I hired a trainer who comes to the firm building which has a gym. Other attorneys have joined so it makes me doubly accountable.
I run marathons and half marathons which helps keep me in shape. I run 4-5 times a week and fit them in before or after work (whichever works best).
I'm training for the half marathon and I go about 5 times per week. But I'm also single, no kids, and work in government so my work hours are pretty steady
Commit to a certain amount of days and meet that requirement weekly without specifying which days to do it. So, for instance, if you commit to working out three times a week, you can randomize the days based on the load of your day. I do three days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sometimes I don't feel like doing it so I push it to the lighter days of the week or opt to eat a healthier meal and walk around the office more than normal. Either way, you will sacrifice in some way, shape, or form but don't feel bound.
I hired a trainer. I’ve had one for about 6 years now. I’m a former D1 athlete but since I’ve graduated, I’ve lacked motivation to work out. I’m just not good with getting myself to workout on my own and I had to accept that. I found that if I pay for someone to train me then I HAVE to show up. It’s worked well and I’m a lot healthier because I have a financial interest tied to it. I also work out in the mornings (6am-7am) and I feel that it makes my mind sharper for work.
