Is it easier to make friends in Miami?
Fairly easy if you have a hobby that gets you out (e.g., golf, rock climbing), rough otherwise
I’ll be your friend
It’s very easy to meet friendly people and make acquaintances. Strong, long lasting friendships are harder to come by and (for me) have taken much longer than in other cities.
Moved here just a little over a year ago - I’ve made a lot of acquaintances just via fb and activities (tennis) but I would say I’d count on 1-2 hands number of people that really feel like friend friends. It’s just hard to see people that consistently to form a deeper bond.
I don’t think this is necessarily an LA problem though - it’s probably a big city problem plus I work full remote. I previously made a lot of good friends via work.
I’ve found it pretty easy. Moved here 6 months ago and can count 5 new acquaintances I’ve made, 3 of whom I would call friends. Met them at a variety of places, just go out and join groups doing things you’re interested in
Every city is the same. The only hindrance is distance so explore your own neighborhood.
agree with BCG1. join a running club, writing group, rock climbing gym, pottery or cooking class, etc. there’s also meetups + eventbrite groups you can join too! personally, i like to go to live music shows around town, whether it’s r&b, jazz, punk, metal, whatever, and talk to people there.
You should hire me for coaching, I’ve been in so cal my whole life, I’ll get you solid community.
