It sounds like you have an anxiety problem, not a weight problem. Probably focus on that.
It seems like your body is in a survival mode. I would concentrate on your anxiety, fears, traumas, etc. The weight will come off once you feel safe and stress-free. Meanwhile, intermitting fasting, intuitive eating or Mediterranean diet are simple and flexible food options to try. For movement, I would do slow hatha yoga or something like Kundalini, stretching or barré class. There are tons of free video on YouTube, you don't have to leave your house, and the movement can be slow enough for your heartbeat to elevate just slightly. I would also add an Emotional Freedom Technique and energy healing. Move psychological and energy blocks and your body will adjust...
Also, as much as it sucks, and I know it really fucking sucks and is terrifying and will be hard, you HAVE to do the things that makes you anxious. Not going to the gym and not going for walks will only reinforce the idea that those things are dangerous. Do those things. Take cold showers. Do meditation and wim hof breathwork and work your ass off to prove to your body and yourself that exercise and walking outside are not dangerous. Start small. Do them in your house at first. Start with yoga or a pelaton class at home. Get used to how your body feels when your heart rate is elevated. And learn to accept that it doesn’t mean it’s anxious. It just means that you have an elevated hear rate because you’re doing something good for your body.
You are at a healthy (and frankly quite low) weight for your height. Talk about your body image issues in therapy and/or find a new therapist, since based on your post it doesn’t seem like your current therapist is really helping.
Absolutely nothing wrong with weighing 123 at that height, but that’s false to say it’s “quite low”. Healthy range is 102-136 pounds for that height. So not sure how much higher you’re thinking is considered healthy if 123 is very underweight.

You are in the athletic and acceptable range for fat; fat is essential part of your body.
Sometimes exercise can put our nervous system in anxiety state, especially when you deal with mental health issues. I stopped doing high intensity boot camps for this reason, plus they were hard to sustain. I take walks when I feel like it, I stretch at home, I do yoga, and more importantly I focus on nutrition. That’s what drives our body composition.
I added healthy fats to my diet (avocado, nuts) fiber (raspberries), omega 3 (salmon) and take vitamin d and magnesium. It helps me feel better

You are considered at a healthy weight for your height. But if you're looking to lose weight , you need to work on diet and nutrition.
Reduce take out and cook at home. Eatlean protein, vegetables, complext carbs. Reduce sweets and caloric drinks.
👀 😳 whoa - I'm 5' 1" and 125 is my goal weight...
Your weight is fine. Your mental health needs some work.
Hey! Can you be more specific on what you are trying to "deal with"? Is it fat loss? Is it the anxiety? Is it the lack of motivation? All of the above?
What I often tell clients is: tackling multiple big problems at the same time often leads to progress in none of them.
I'd start by getting clear on what it is you want to solve for. Happy to give examples if you want.
I can relate.
It sounds like you're depressed in the house, and anxiety pulls down your ambitions before you climb out of the hole.
Other comments have great advice, my 2 cents:
It is winter where I'm at. Your body may want to go into a lower gear for the season. It is natural. Being surrounded by an abundance of calories has not often happened in the winter during the history of our species. It's also darker sooner, artificial light has really changed our social and personal expectations. Giving yourself a little grace can help take some of the edge off of harsh stories you may be telling yourself. Not an excuse to check out, but more understanding of what you are dealing with.
The Upside of Stress is a nice TED talk and book that may help with your relationahip to adrenalin and other stress physiology.
My average weight started slowly ratcheting up for years (with the same activity levels) until I got a thyroid Rx. You can try checking your endocrine system out. Normal doctors ignored me, but fertility doctors took a deeper look. Better thyroid levels crushed my anxiety. It was shocking.
I still struggle with this from time to time. St one point, It took me 6 months to be able to walk into the gym. And I had to celebrate different milestones. I stood outside in the sun for 5 minutes, I got a cookie. Walked to Starbucks, got a drink.
Do you have a friend that could be your walking buddy? Or maybe a Pilates buddy?
It sounds like you need slow and easy exercise while your body is in this mode.
Hi, It sounds like you need to focus on calming your nervous system. I cannot recommend Christine Morgenstern-Shin's RESET program enough. She is the founder of Radiant Heart. I am currently in her program- and not only did I lose 15 pounds pretty effortlessly- but she also teaches you so many tools to calm your nervous system. Tell her that Julie sent you! You will not regret it.
Next RESET begins in January. You've got this!!
Maybe try to find something that doesn't cause you to be anxious but still gets your body moving. High intensity workouts and going for regular walks aren't my thing either but I'm perfectly fine doing jumping jacks or walking in place while watching TV instead of just lounging on the couch.
I’ve got an eating disorder that I’ve been keeping in remission- best way for me to describe to other is my “drug” of choice is food.
But continuing on- the beat thing I ever did was throwing away my scale- heck I did eventually buy a new one, BUT as soon as I had negative thoughts I gave my scale to my roommate to “hide/keep” when I feel like overly stressed and anxious about weight gain.
So toss/give to a friend the scale and keep any BMI stats/charts and stuff a me gather it all and throw it away.
BMI is 🐂 💩- and only really plays into eating disorder getting triggered.
Heck I feel better not know or checking all the time. The scale is what is failing you.
